Hello there. It is Neylan. I like to call myself a facilitator of learning than a teacher because I believe that in the modern world that we are living in knowledge is everywhere and learning something haven't been much easier in the human history, but the main point is to know the tools that are useful for you and to have the support and the discipline with a strong psychology to keep on moving. Therefore, in my lessons, I get help from the knowledge that I gained through the years in diverse areas, apart from current teaching techniques. By blending the knowledge that trainings such as yoga, meditation, NLP, Neuro language learning and storytelling gave me, I try to draw a path that leads not only to English speaking, but also to learning methods, training the mind and self-knowledge. My students and I meet on more friendly common ground where a teacher or a student does not exist but mutual knowledge sharing flow. We use language as a tool in an environment where there is a flow of information that feeds each other. My aim is to guide the person to remember the already existing Spanish knowledge and culture that dwells inside himself/herself. I get on very well with children and young people. We also have very warm relations with adults who have not lost their inner child and hunger for learning.

About Me

Hello there. I'm Neylan. I am the daughter of a Venezuelan mother and a Turkish father. Both Turkish and Spanish are my native languages. I also speak very good French and Portuguese. I lived in London for 4 years when I was very young. For this reason, English also burst forth in me very early. Since I was born my mother who is a Spanish teacher spoke to me in Spanish and since my early childhood she taught me Spanish language and literature. To add up another language and culture I decided to study in a French lycée where I completed my studies over the course of 8 years. In university, I studied Management of Performing Arts, and then I moved to Spain and after to Portugal, where I gained competencies on-site with language teaching. As of 2021, I continue to refresh my knowledge in the Spanish Language and Latin American Culture and Literature master's program. In addition to improving myself academically, I continue to enrich my know-how with the trainings from different fields that I participate every year. To force myself, I started learning Norwegian. In this way, I find the opportunity to observe the difficulties experienced by language learners myself. I have been teaching Spanish for over 10 years. In my classes, I get support from tools such as art, dance, theater and gamification. I have worked at both universities and institutions at primary and high school levels, but right after I decided to stick in one-on-one teaching, the area in which I am gifted with my natural communication skills, empathy and analytical skills.

Holder of a Master's degree in Letters and endowed with a solid experience in private lessons, I provide French lessons for students wishing to:
- consolidate their bases in grammar, spelling
- improve their language skills (allophone students)
- improve their speaking skills (conversation classes)

The course material is a Google Docs document that I create in which my explanations, possible links, exercises appear. By reading it regularly, progress will be faster. It can also be used in addition to other documents (files printed by school teachers and/or books) and has many advantages: automatic updating, downloadable on tablets and smartphones, simultaneous monitoring of what is writing.

For help with writing:

The objective is above all to acquire effective tools. The student will thus be able to learn to structure his ideas, argue coherently (and convincingly) and enrich his vocabulary. It is essential for me to have written work from the student between each lesson.

For analyzes of oral literary texts:

In order to optimize the time available (and to put ourselves in conditions closest to oral exams), we choose together an extract from a work that the student will have previously prepared before the lesson. This would take around 20 minutes at most, and ideally just a little before the meeting time. If necessary, I have the habit of taking a paragraph at random which would serve as a basis for analyzing a passage.

For the corrections of end of studies work:

so that the meeting with the student is at the most profitable, I ask him to send me his writings before the meeting.

Apart from my presence with the student, any course involves a preparation time before and after the lesson, including the work that I correct. My goal is to design an individualized course, so I take the time to write detailed comments on corrected work or tips to ensure maximum success for everyone.

For example, an editorial correction can easily be the subject of a detailed commentary of 4 typewritten pages.

For adults (FLE):

In order to optimally prepare the first ones, I take the initiative to inform myself in advance of their objectives / expectations. Whether to practice speaking in everyday life, the professional world or to practice oral presentations, I prepare either PPT or technical sheets in advance that I send by mail ( after booking on the website).

The other alternative is to make a PV of the course that I send (or that I print). Giving importance to keeping a written record on the one hand to better memorize the topics covered, on the other hand to better assimilate the spelling.

Of a general nature, a concrete situation that responds to the learner's needs is the starting point. From this situation, I address the essential grammatical points.

The SAT is a landmark exam for many high school students. A good exam score can be instrumental in college admissions. This course is designed to provide students with resources to set a goal score, make a study plan, and feel confident on test day. I got a 1530 on my most recent SAT, and I am dedicated to uplifting students to and beyond that score.
I can help specifically with the English and Math multiple choice parts of the exam.
