About Me

I am an American, TEFL certified English teacher and a native English speaker. I speak German and Chinese. I have been teaching English for 7 years now, 3 years in a classroom and and 4 years on various sites online. I've taught students from all over the world, including: China, Malaysia, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and Switzerland.

I teach according to my students' individual needs, interests and learning stiles. I help them to improve their general English, prepare for living abroad and help beginners to form their first foundation. For those who are interested in a structured course, I provide materials that can help my students go from an A1 level to a C1 level. For those who would rather skip the grammar drills, I offer conversation practice where the student can have a conversation about various topics. At the end of the conversation, I give grammar and pronunciation notes to correct any mistakes.

I teach children through fun and interactive books and games. With me, they can improve there reading comprehension, vocabulary, or do their homework assignments from school. I also try to make my classes with children as fun as possible so that they will be motivated to learn.

I teach strategies for passing the TOEFL exam as well, enabling students to better understand the different parts of the exam and how to prepare for them.

My methodology: Learning to structure one's thoughts to express oneself better
My approach is based on a simple observation: success is not achieved through lack of effort, but often through a lack of method and confidence. My role is to transform subjects sometimes perceived as abstract (Philosophy, French) or intimidating (English) into concrete tools for success.

The typical course of a session:
1. Quick diagnosis: We start by identifying the areas of uncertainty from the previous lesson or the difficulties with a specific exercise.
2. Taking action: No boring lectures! We work on concrete exercises, essay plans or oral practice (in English) to "learn by doing".
3. The "Montreal Method": Having worked for two and a half years in Quebec, I use a North American pedagogy that is very focused on encouragement, clear structure and student autonomy.
4. Summary & Objectives: We end each session with a recap of the key points so that the student knows exactly what to revise.
