I come from a small island, Malta, where I had a broad-based educational background through which I attained several qualifications. I veered from the scientific into the artistic field and throughout this journey I maintained a constant devotion to the English language. Throughout Drama School, English was the main language I was coached in. I received expert professional training in English pronunciation, particularly in Royal Pronunciation.
Although I did not wish to return to University, I decided to enrol in a TEFL course and almost immediately found employment teaching English to international students. I found that this was one of the most rewarding roles I have ever had.
During my classes I found myself making use of any experiences and knowledge I had reaped from my previous studies. Drama school, in particular, helped much in improvisation and giving vitality and interest to my lessons. It also improved my self-confidence and interaction with my students. The training I had received in my own speech classes and from my vocal coaches strengthened my teaching methods for spoken English, even with the most difficult students.
My prior experiences as a Drama school teacher, to ages ranging from junior school children to final year students sitting for their Trinity Drama ‘O’ level, proved a very useful asset in teaching English to different age groups. My TEFL training prepared me to cater for different levels of teaching, even within a particular age group.
As fulfilling as it is to teach young children and teens, it is more challenging to teach adults, who may already be set in their ways with a basic knowledge of the language, which is usually far from proper. Out of all the methodology of TEFL, I prefer the interactive approach, although quite a few times I had to use the military, drill method in order to obtain results!
I believe I will be a good fit for this job and I can contribute to teaching English to students of any nationality. I am eager to pursue the work I had started with so much enthusiasm in my island, before I left it to come and build my life here in UK.

I specialise in tutoring students in the English language. I have experience with international students of various ages, ranging from children to adults. I have taught each age group at different levels of difficulty.
Following on this, I intend to conduct my online classes in the same fashion in order to obtain the same satisfactory results, I had at EC Language school.
I can also help with pronunciation, vocabulary and accent attenuation.
Homework or practice work will be assigned and periodic progress reports will be given.
