History Lessons: Exam Preparation, Critical Thinking, and Academic Writing
From 53.9 £ /h
I am a historian and researcher with a strong international academic background and extensive teaching experience with secondary school, sixth form, and university students. I trained at both the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, and I hold two master’s degrees in History. I am also an undergraduate and master’s awardee.
For several years, I have taught private History lessons and provided tutoring to students across different levels and educational systems, including GCSE, A-Level, IB, and university, both in person and online. I have experience preparing students for official exams, developing source analysis skills, essay writing, study organisation, and a deeper understanding of complex historical processes. I have also worked as a supervisor and teacher at the University of Cambridge, teaching university students in small-group settings.
I help students not only improve their grades, but also develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and confidence in their studies. Thanks to my international experience and my background working in multicultural contexts, I am able to adapt my teaching to a wide range of student profiles, supporting both those who need reinforcement and those aiming for academic excellence.

About Me
I strive to provide students with the theoretical, emotional, and practical support to achieve their academic goals and become influential historians. My research focuses on the early modern period, but I teach a variety of subjects ranging from medieval to contemporary history. I have over 15 years of tutoring and teaching experience. To date I estimate that I have conducted approximately 10,000 hours of one-on-one tutorials, both in person and online. I am trained to assist high school students sitting Spanish exams as well as (I)GCSE and A-Level students. I am an expert in exam technique, source analysis, and content comprehension. As a published author and experienced researcher, I am equipped to help students think critically and write effectively. I also specialize in essay writing skills for undergraduates and postgraduates, and I have experience supervising dissertations.
Education
I am about to receive my PhD in History from Cambridge University and I have two Masters degrees in History from University of Barcelona and Universitat Pompeu Fabra. I am currently co-writing a book on food and early modern cross-cultural encounters.
Experience / Qualifications
I have worked as a part-time tutor since 2010 while pursuing my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. While a Ph.D. student at Cambridge University, I worked as an undergraduate supervisor. Since then, I have taught students at various levels, ranging from highschoolers to doctoral students. In addition to teaching history, I have a strong track record assisting students with their masters applications for Oxbridge, Kings College, UCL, Warwick, LSE, Imperial, ESCP, among other universities.
My teaching methodology is underpinned by the firm believe that learning history entails more than memorizing dates and names. It requires training your mind to connect facts, think critically about how history has been written by other historians, and work out how your personal interests and points of view may contribute to the field.
