If you want to talk about daily life, news, hobbies, traveling, etc. and enjoy speaking English, then this is a good class to do it. Usually a 1-hour class is best as it gives plenty of time. If a shorter, or longer, class is better for you I can do that too. Just ask :)

About Me

Hello! My name is Dan and I'm an ex-pro surfer from Jupiter, Florida in the USA. Currently, I'm married and living in Nagano City, Japan. I've lived here for almost 10 years now. It's a big change going from an all year hot place to a cold place, but I like it. I love nature and the outdoors. Unfortunately I can't surf here in Nagano so I drive to Niigata. One of my recent hobbies that I love to do is taking pictures of space using my telescope and a special camera. If we have a class together please ask me about it!

Over the time that I've lived here, I've been teaching conversational English at numerous Eikaiwa schools. I teach elementary schools kids, Junior high school kids, high school kids, and even adults in their 60s to 80s. Also, I do "free-talk" classes where my students and I talk about anything and everything. Any age is OK! Its really fun! I also have my own car detailing shop here in Amori Koichi. I wash cars, do polishing, body coatings, window coatings, and wheel coatings. I love making cars look beautiful!

My classes are not a cram school. We don't use books here. Most of the time we use flashcards and we might use some prints depending on what is being taught. Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:

When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ... You know that numbers are formed according to a certain pattern. With only ten digits, you can form an infinite number of numbers and always know which number comes next.
