This class is for students who want to refine their English pronunciation, either for examination preparation or for job interviews. My goal is to give students the confidence to speak English fluently and accurately. I am an experienced teacher and linguist, and I encourage students to develop their speaking skills for academic, social and career advancement. Online classes are structured, with regular homework. Pronunciation classes are recorded, so that students can practise at home, and I give them regular progress reports, so that they can measure their improvement.
This is my special area, but I am also an experienced exam coach and
academic proofreader (MA and PhD theses).

Extra information

I specialise in one-to-one classes. However, I can also teach small groups, by prior arrangement. Classes are normally via webcam with 2 X 45-minute lessons. I send students the teaching materials in advance; students can either print these out for home use or view them online using a shared screen. I record the students' audio and correct the students pronunciation errors, and then I send them the audio so that they can listen to themselves and practise. This is a great method for reinforcing learning, and I have had great success with it over the past 15 years her in Denmark. I also design lessons according to the special pronunciation needs of students from specific countries, so that each student has a personalised course designed just for them.

I'm Aimee and I am a student at Københavns Universitet studying English Literature and Scandinavian Studies. Prior to moving to Copenhagen I was an English tutor for four years, teaching students both in and out of school. I typically tutor students from folkeskole to Gymnasium level and have taught those with additional needs such as dyslexia and autism and respect that some children need a little extra help with certain subjects. I recognise that different students learn in different ways and so I am able to tailor my sessions to their learning style. I am very successful with my tutoring and have helped pupils raise their grades from below a pass to top grades. I am enthusiastic and driven which I feel is very important especially as, from experience, when someone struggles academically they tend to distance themselves from that certain subject. Typical math courses for example:

- I start the lesson by asking the student questions to identify his main difficulties and I answer any questions he may have.

- I then suggest several standard exercises to him to then make a method sheet and identify precisely what are the steps to follow when faced with this or that type of exercise.

- Finally, I offer him more complex exercises so that he learns to cultivate his intuition in the face of a mathematical exercise.

Of course, this is only a typical process, I adapt to the needs and wishes of the student, a course is above all a dialogue. The main thing is that the student feels as comfortable as possible to ask all the questions that come to him and gain confidence!
