By using a wide variety of media, I am able to teach not only a general skill in the English language, but the confidence to use it in real life situations. The mix of reading, speaking and list I offer makes classes fast, fun and more useful than classical language classes.

About Me
Hi there, I’m Dave and I’ve just moved to Paris to study for a masters degree at Sciences Po. I also give personal tuition in order to share my passion for understanding the world around us in its great complexity - my academic background being in Archaeology and Anthropology. What is interesting about this choice was that this was never something I was particularly interested in growing up. My primary goal in tutorials is to spark the interest of the student, in whatever subject they need help, by giving them the bigger picture.

I am also mildly dyslexic which helps me understand some of the issues children face while they are formulating good learning habits. Dyslexia is not a weakness, it simply means that you are comparatively stronger in some academic skills over others. I used to struggle putting my ideas onto paper, and was daunted at the prospect of organising my ideas on a particular subject. My tutorials can help students generate successful strategies for writing essays of a high quality.

Tuition would start by identifying the current curriculum a child is working on, and moving on from there. I am generally happy to help with all kinds of academic work.

Why is history important? What can we learn from the past that is relevant today, or interesting enough to study in great detail?

These are extremely important questions that many students face when they have to study world history. Often, however, these questions are never properly answered. The first aim of my class is to tackle these questions head on, to encourage a real interest in past ways of life and the role of history.

The secondary role of my tuition is to help the student become more confident in their writing: how they can formulate their ideas into a strong, coherent piece of work.

Victoria
French:
My name is Victoria and I'm from Ontario, Canada. I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, a Master of Arts from York University, and a TEFL certification.

I have varied teaching experience with students of all ages and levels. I work professionally as a middle school principal, adult language teacher, and private tutor. I am an experienced teacher of English as a Second Language and English Literature and have worked in Canada, China, and currently teach in Paris.

My method: I meet with the student and identify their English goals (business, conversation, test preparation, vocabulary isolation). I assess their learning style and create unique lesson plans that effectively promote language retention and overall student confidence. My goal is to keep students challenged but never overwhelmed. I assign homework (student's choice) after each lesson and provide periodic progress reports.

I am a private tutor in French, History and English and in French in a Parisian high school.
I offer private lessons for college and high school students.

My journey :

- Hypokhâgne and Khâgne at Lycée Janson de Sailly
- Khûbe at Lycée Molière

- Master 1 in French Literature at the Sorbonne (mention Bien)
- Master 2 in Theater and other arts at the Sorbonne-Nouvelle and the ENS (mention Bien)

- Trained at the Jacques Lecoq International School (bilingual English - French actor training in three years)

My method:

It is about understanding the psychology of the student, deconstructing negative mechanisms (anxiety about the subject, refusal to delve deeper, disinterest or discouragement, etc.) and restoring an enthusiastic relationship with the subject.
My classes are relaxed and humor and people have their place but they remain rigorous and demanding to allow the student to feel at ease and to flourish without ever compromising on the quality of the teaching .
Benevolence and high standards are the key words of my method.
Through the study of my subjects, I try to build a course adapted to the needs and the personality of the student with a long-term vision in order to give adolescents and young adults all the keys to pursue an education. ambitious and in line with their professional desires. Thus, they can understand their interest in the subject, the importance of a good general culture and a good expression, essential in any field. The study of one or more of my subjects then has a decisive and very beneficial impact on the whole of schooling.
