We have had lessons from Hans for a total of 3 years. During Hans lessons, you do not only learn what the theory is or how the assignment works, but also how to apply it yourself. He does this by looking at the material in his own unique way, which gives you a better view of the theory. As a result, we both went from a 6 on average to an 8. I obtained an academic bachelor's degree in Mathematics with distinction and a master's degree in Data Science & Biostatistics with great distinction from Hasselt University. I have a theater degree and am a former leader of the scouts (so I have some experience with children). Furthermore, I have been teaching classrooms as a full-time mathematics teacher in the 3rd grade for some time. I am currently a statistical consultant at the DSI at Hasselt University.

I see too many children who have an unnecessarily difficult time with math. I personally see all this happening due to a lack of applications in everyday life. I passed the IB diploma program for Biology Standard Level with full marks, I also received a 7 on my Internal Assessment (IA). I have a very good grasp on what the IB expects from it's students (all the weird and wonderful little criteria.) I have a very good grasp on Biology the subject itself, as it was one of my favorite classes and I understand the concepts on a broader and more minute scale, so I can help students to understand the topics as well as the specifics and how they all play into one another. I aim to provide students with not just the memorization of information in a somewhat robotic sense, but an actual understanding and comfortable grasp on all the topics, ideas and concepts. I can help with any homework or course work provided, including providing feedback and guidance on essays and assignments. I also like to set out extra homework (not difficult, just based on our sessions) to get back to me at the next meeting so that the student's confidence and grasp on the subjects continues to build and I can see where exactly they need assistance.

NB: prior to our meetings, if possible, I would appreciate being sent whatever course work or topics the student is currently doing in class (or the syllabus, in the best case scenario) in order to best maximize my planning and ability to assist.

I have over ten years of experience providing individual tutoring at home in science subjects. I always tailor the content of the tutoring sessions to the students' needs. During the first tutoring session, I focus primarily on getting to know the student and any challenges they encounter, by asking questions about their school situation and observing how they engage with the material. Then, I always focus on explaining the material and, if necessary, offering work methods or even tricks that can help the student complete assignments. By asking the right questions, I then guide the student on the path to solving the assignments, gradually building their confidence. Besides working hard, I always strive to create a relaxed atmosphere.
The most important factor for the success of tutoring is the student's motivation. This requires good cooperation between parents, child, and teacher. Therefore, I often take the time to communicate with parents about the progress of the tutoring and the student's progress.

I always prefer to provide tutoring on a regular basis (e.g. 1 lesson per week).
