I strongly believe students learn best when they are feeling inspired and challenged, so my priority is to support my students in meeting their individual goals - no matter how ambitious - while making every step enjoyable. Likewise, every lesson plan is personalised to fit my students' interests, support needs, level of commitment and time outside of our lessons, and any specific goals. I am patient, enthusiastic, encouraging, and passionate about teaching and that they have improved their singing from the first few lessons. I’m a professional singer-songwriter and multiple award-winning entrepreneurial independent artist. I am a freelance tutor and I deeply enjoy sharing with a range of students all the knowledge I acquired from Berklee College of Music and my career experience around the USA, Latin America and New Zealand.

Besides singing and vocal coaching, I offer my singing students songwriting, performance skills, and self-accompaniment lessons to complement their journey of becoming fully fleshed musicians.

Songwriting -

My approach to songwriting is this - anyone can write a song! My goal is to show you some simple, fun, practical and effective methods of how you can write a song (you don't even need to be able to play an instrument!). Once you finish your song, you'll also have the opportunity to record it if you desire to do so (these lessons can tie in very well with the music production lessons). We will cover topics such as:

Co-writing

Music production -

After the initial stages of writing the song, you'll learn how to record it and turn it into a sonically awesome sounding piece of music. We'll cover topics such as:

Mastering
MIDI Programming (drums and synthesized sounds)

I am a 4th year music BMus (Honours) student at the University of Glasgow. If you are interested in learning how to sing many diverse styles of music, I can provide lessons in a fun and nurturing environment. I teach popular styles of music such as pop, country, rock, jazz and blues and can also teach classical singing. I also teach beginner acoustic and classical guitar. I teach music theory up to ABRSM Grade 5 Level.

Hi my name is Rory, I am 27 years old and have been playing bass since the age of 10, recieving lessons from a professional. I then began playing guitar when 15 and built up to a high standard of playing. Being competent in tabliture, scales, keys, and a lot of the theory and technical aspects of these instruments, I am offering lessons for all ability lessons and ages. I have been teaching for just over a year now to students from as young as 6 and as old as 50, some with special needs and learning difficulties, motor function deficiencies etc. This has given me an excellent window into the life of teaching and tutoring music and being able to discover what allows you to learn most effectively.

Hi! My name is Nancy and I am currently studying BMus Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I teach Piano lessons for both beginner and intermediate learners, across a wide variety of styles, from Classical, to Jazz, to Pop!

I aim to create a fun and engaging environment for students to learn Piano, and prioritise flexibility, so students can choose their own learning path based on their individual aims and interests. I understand that as players become more confident and immersed in playing Piano, their interests change, and so, I try to introduce students to a range of music and topics.

I have a lot of experience with the ABRSM performance exam board, and I am happy to work towards graded music exams if the student wishes. I can also point students towards opportunities to perform and showcase their work in front of audiences, if this is something which they are interested in.

Alongside my Undergraduate studies in Music, I have ABRSM Grade 8 in both Piano Performance, and also in Music Theory. I also have passed ABRSM grades in other instruments, e.g. Trumpet, Singing, Drums, and Tuned Percussion. My degree is in Music Composition, therefore I have experience writing my own music in a variety of styles, and have worked alongside musicians and ensembles throughout Scotland, and overseas.

I have several years of professional performance-based experience which includes Radio City Music Hall, singing LIVE on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and multiple professional concerts/cabarets.

Student experience:
Music and singing should be for everyone to enjoy. Together we can focus on technique, repertoire, or simply how to sing healthily for fun. My classroom is a safe space to experiment and grow your love of singing.

First lesson:
In our first lesson we'll focus on some easy vocal warm-ups/exercises so I can assess your skill level. We'll chat about what you want to work on together. We'll talk about what kind of music you'd like to learn and discuss resources for sheet music and tracks.

Moving forward:
Acting and characterization are key components in learning to sing, even if just for fun! Enjoying your music choices and identifying why they speak to you will help in growing your vocal range. Moving forward together we'll focus on your skill level and reaching each vocal goal you have.
