About Me

I am a twenty-one year old student with a bachelor's degree in Applied Communication from IHECS and currently in the first year of a master's degree in cinema. I offer private lessons of French and Spanish from the first primary to the sixth humanity. I also offer my services to help students with their homework and correct work in French.

My experience and skills are mainly focused on improving conversation, however we can see in detail the grammar if you are also interested in this aspect. What I propose is a set of exercises to practice your oral expression:

-Free subjects or subjects of general interest: travel, leisure... or even more specialized themes such as politics, culture...
-Vocabulary games: riddles, descriptions, construction of sentences, short stories ... whose words will serve as a basis for other exercises in future sessions to consolidate what has been seen and to measure your progress
-Sketches: dramatizations of everyday situations or situations that make you or could make you uncomfortable in a foreign language (work interviews, shopping, making an appointment, procedures at the municipality, etc.) ). Here you will have the advantage of preparing yourself and having the situation under control with the support of the teacher.

What to expect?

Young children - More of a game/activity learning method but also involves learning a broad scheme of things. It is in a way, an introduction to the basics of the language.

Teenagers - Usually involve set goals to reach by a certain period (for school). The teaching method and intensity depends on the amount of catching up to do.
If no catch up is required a more friendly learning method can be applied depending on the learner's interests.

Adults - More of a discussion-based learning method, depending on the experience of the learner. And can be oriented more towards specific subjects or domains chosen by the learner. It can involve course work or tasks to be done.

Why me?

I was born in Scotland but I grew up mostly in the french-speaking part of Belgium so I would say that both English and French are my natal languages.

I have decent knowledge of the various English cultures, vocabulary, and grammar.
Having traveled for a year in North America and having lived in Australia, Ireland, and Britain.

My mother is an english teacher in a secondary school and has given private english lessons ever since we moved to Belgium when I was six years old . I have participated or helped in many classes when needed.

I have access to a ton of material and her personal knowledge if I or we are experiencing a problem that we can't seem to solve. Or an issue the learner is experiencing that is preventing him/her from advancing.

The class will focus on improving oral expression, get to know formal talking but also Spanish slang. The purpose is talk as soon as possible. There will be time dedicated to grammar but practice is expected to be done individually. I will correct exercises outside lessons hours. All these to make the most of ours lessons together !

I also very often use situations close to the student's experience, such as describing places they have been or talking about what they have experienced.
