Oud, Traditional and Popular (Rebetiko) Greek Music, Eastern Music and Modal Theory
From 28 £ /h
I teach oud and other traditional Eastern and Greek music instruments (lavta, guitar in traditional and popular music), as well as Eastern modal music theory, providing a holistic structure for the comprehension of various popular and traditional music idioms of Greece and Eastern Mediterranean cultures.
Singing plays a central role in my teaching method, approaching ornamentation, intonation and personal expression through the use of voice as an instrument, not in order to become a "singer", but to create a personal relationship with the music material and the qualities of sound.
Theory is approached through a plethora of experimental exercises, considering specified intonation and modality of each music style in a general and solid structure.
