LOOM: a linguistic approach to European language learning for lifeTranslate this text using Google Translate.

LOOM: a linguistic approach to European language learning for lifeTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Please note: This course is ONLY for native English speakers (or those with a high level of English). In this 10-lesson course you will learn concepts and strategies for learning Dutch (and any European language). We will investigate and practice the many ways you can leverage native English speaking for rapidly learning Dutch. This course will leave you inspired and interested in foreign languages. The priority is on increasing your confidence in speaking a second language in daily life and to provide tools for independently learning Dutch. LOOM is inspired by both the classic work on language learning The Loom of Language (1923), and the joy of watching children learn languages first hand. This course is especially useful for: - Those frustrated by conventional approaches to learning language - Those with a bad memory for words - Those who enjoy playing with language and meaning - Those who prefer thinking and understanding over rote learning Please note: You do not need to commit to all 5 lessons in advance. First book a single lesson and see if this approach works for you. About me: I am a scientist by training and studied at Oxford and received my PhD from Cambridge. I currently work as a research scientist at Utrecht University and teach Dutch in my spare time. I have a passion for learning Dutch and finding hidden connections across languages, which I share with others. I am a native English speaker and very competent Dutch speaker (C1 level) - so I have personal experience of learning Dutch as an adult (and the challenges faced).

Electric, Acoustic, Classical guitar lessons in Jazz, Rock, Blues, Pop, classical, eastern traditional folk music. Composition, singing.Translate this text using Google Translate.

Hello there! My name is Vasilis and I am a jazz/rock/eastern traditional and classical guitar player, singer and songwriter currently studying as a 3rd year student in the Jazz and Pop guitar department of HKU conservatory. I am coming from Greece where I graduated from my first bachelor on classical guitar and the last three years I live, study, work and play in Utrecht. My teaching career started very early, 12 years ago when my classical guitar teacher let me teach my first student and since then I have worked in multiple music schools and in private lessons with students of every age. This year I also started giving my first band coaching group lessons. In my lessons I try to create a learning path that is formed arround the interests and taste of each student. Since I am a singer and songwriter the lessons can also focus on the creating part of music if of course the student is interested in that. I work with empathy and sensitivity arround the needs of each student. As for my playing career, I play with multiple bands on original songs of mine or covers in different venues and festivals in Europe. The genres differ between pop, jazz, rock, eastern traditional and blues so I can give a big variety of stylistic directions to each student. Last but not least, I am also a singer and because of my good performance in school, I was awarded from the HKU Conservatory the oportunity to follow the vocal curriculum of the school as well. So I can help you with singing too!

“ As an adult, embarking in learning how to play the cello without any musical background is a daunting challenge. Hector has made the start of my journey a very pleasant and enriching one. We started with the fundamentals of music theory, have worked through the physical challenges of playing this instrument and continue to build on the right and left hand techniques. He is a passionate cellist who efortlessly welcomes you into the beauty of his art. I'm definitely happy to recommend him as a teacher. ”

“ My first set of lessons were really great and I will definitely take more. I came in as a beginner and in every lesson Gala helped me make meaningful progress step by step. She is also very encouraging, motivating and playful during the lessons. Even if at times you just practice fundamental motions without using note sheets, if she's not actively giving feedback she will improvise to play along with you. Learning and playing with her always ends up being fun. ”

“ Learning a new language can be very hard as an adult. Alexander not only teaches how to navigate this hardship but the lessons are fun-filled and quite exciting. I feel more confident and immersed in the Dutch language thanks to him. The one-to-one lessons were great. Highly recommended! ”
