About Me

Hallo, mijn naam is Laura

Ik heb een masterdiploma in klassieke muziek van het Conservatorium Utrecht. Ik heb ervaring met het lesgeven aan kinderen en werk daarnaast ook met volwassenen van alle niveaus.

Als muziekdocent is mijn belangrijkste doel om bij mijn leerlingen een diepe passie voor muziek te ontwikkelen. Ik geloof dat muziek een krachtige emotionele taal is. Wanneer leerlingen echt verbonden zijn met wat ze spelen, kunnen ze een breed scala aan emoties uitdrukken en oprecht communiceren met hun publiek. Zonder passie en emotionele betrokkenheid verliest muziek haar betekenis.

Tegelijkertijd moet artistieke expressie worden ondersteund door een solide technische basis. Het ontwikkelen van een goede techniek maakt het spelen gemakkelijker, natuurlijker en plezieriger. Even belangrijk is het aanleren van gezonde gewoontes vanaf het begin — vooral een correcte houding en lichaamsbewustzijn — om spanning en fysieke klachten op de lange termijn te voorkomen.

Voor mij is goed muziekonderwijs een balans tussen emotie en techniek. In mijn lessen werken we aan beide aspecten, zodat leerlingen zich niet alleen ontwikkelen als muzikanten, maar ook als zelfverzekerde en expressieve uitvoerders.

Ik behaalde mijn bachelordiploma cello aan het Conservatorium van Castelló (Spanje). Tijdens mijn studie nam ik deel aan het Erasmusprogramma aan de Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EMTA) in Tallinn, Estland. Vervolgens voltooide ik mijn masteropleiding aan het HKU Conservatorium in Utrecht.

Naast mijn formele opleiding volgde ik verschillende lessen en masterclasses bij Maria Macedo. Tijdens mijn masteropleiding volgde ik ook lessen in de Alexandertechniek, wat mijn inzicht in lichaamsbewustzijn en een gezonde houding tijdens het musiceren verder heeft verdiept.

Experience / Qualifications

Ik heb ervaring met het geven van cellolessen en muziektheorielessen aan kinderen, waarbij ik jonge leerlingen help om zowel een sterke technische basis als een goed muzikaal begrip te ontwikkelen.

Als uitvoerend musicus heb ik gespeeld in orkesten zoals de Kammeroper Frankfurt, het Orchestre National des Jeunes du Luxembourg en het Utrecht Young Symphony Orchestra. Deze ervaringen hebben mij in staat gesteld om sterke ensemblevaardigheden te ontwikkelen en een diepgaand inzicht te krijgen in het orkestrepertoire.

Tijdens mijn muziekopleiding was ik actief betrokken bij diverse kamermuziekensembles, waaronder strijkkwartetten, strijktrio’s, pianotrio’s en andere formaties. My name is Panagiotis and I am a guitar teacher/player. I have two bachelor degrees: Classical Guitar (Philippos Nakas Conservatory), Jazz&Pop Guitar (HKU Utrecht Conservatory). I have been teaching in music schools and giving individual lessons for the last 14 years. In 2017 I moved to Utrecht to continue my studies in jazz guitar at the Utrecht Conservatory and explore the Dutch music scene.I teach electric, acoustic, classical guitar and music theory. Besides the basic technique and theory knowledge, which Ι make sure to provide to each of my students , I individually prepare their study line, according to their taste and abilities. Perhaps you want to surprise your couple playing a bossa-nova. Or maybe you want to become the next solo trumpet at the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Everyone has different goals when playing the trumpet, it is my job to help you achieve them. If you don't have clear objectives yet, I will be guiding you and exploring the possibilities of trumpet playing with you. Also, especially for kids, I can help you find a nice pTrumpet. They are lightweight plastic trumpets made with great quality and available in different colours!

Good technique, and a lot of fun
The most important lesson I have learned in my career is that making good music is only possible when you enjoy the process. Of course, good technical skills are crucial but studying exercises that you find boring is not the best way up to proficiency. Instead, finding your unique best approach to improve your skills will get you to the moon! For improving your tempo awareness, would you practice with a metronome or would you rather use a drumbeat sample?

Your health is important! Body awareness and breathing techniques
Not only wind players benefit from doing sport, acquiring good posture habits, and being aware of their breath. It helps everyone in every single aspect of their lives. A good breathing technique will let you play easily, run for a longer period of time, or sleep better at night. On the other hand, body posture awareness helps with productivity and saves money on the fysio. Life hacks that you cannot miss!

Improvisation and open-mindedness
That very feeling of creating art on the spot. Only a few experiences can relate to it. When we explore and create, our flow state gets triggered. We are fully immersed in the activity and the world surrounding us vanishes. If you like, we will go on a journey discovering new emotions, colours, sounds, harmonies, textures, styles, genres. And improvising on them. Let's get creative!

Technology in music. Recording and producing
Let's face it, we are in the 21st century and the possibilities of technology are endless in the audiovisual field. Recording for auditions, producing and releasing your first single, live looping, use of effects... You can learn all that with me. Are you curious? Book your lesson now!

Ok but, how will my lessons look like?
Breathing practice is one of the best ways to start warming up. It will take the first 5 minutes of your lesson and your body will be prepared to start playing.
Then, we would go into working on your specific goals. Perhaps, we are practicing music that demands improvement on the higher register, maybe we are working out different scales for improvisation, or it might be the case that you want to discover a new genre and go deep into it. Reading music, ear training, phrasing, music theory, buzzing and embouchure position, articulations (legato, staccato, accents), dynamics... These are only an indication of what we might work on.
The final minutes of your lesson will be the moment to relax. We can get creative, play some tunes together, improvise, or even talk about a specific topic like musicality, art, creativity, technique, theory or the music industry for instance.

Group lessons and ensembles
Making music alone is fun, but playing with people brings it to the next level! If you like the idea, I will bring you together with other fellow students for technique workshops, jam sessions, duo with piano, or whatever other activity we might find interesting for you.

I offer flexibility in my schedule so your trumpet lessons fit into your agenda. I can come to your place, or perhaps you prefer visiting my teaching room in Utrecht. I will have some coffee or tea waiting for you.

I am a brass performer and teacher that has performed in classical and modern music ensembles for more than 15 years. During this time, I attended innumerable masterclasses and had great fun in various professional experiences such as performing at Tomorrowland, an avant-garde music festival in Malta, or the great symphonic masterpieces with symphonic orchestras in Spain and the Netherlands.
I hold a bachelor's and a master's degree in music performance and a master's degree in music education during my official studies in Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands.

I know how arduous the artistic journey can be yet, we take it none the less, because we are all striving for this little moment of magic that arises when everything falls into place. For me, I saw this happening many times during a performance but also in coaching others and it gives me chills every time. I am Irene, a graduated Master student at HKU Utrecht Conservatorium, and I offer cello lessons to people of all ages, both online and in person.
I have more than 7 years of experience teaching both adults and children, in private lessons, group lessons and music schools.
I have also taught music theory and piano to beginners.
The lessons could work in different ways: regular lessons every one or two weeks, or just a couple of times, etc. I have had students that only wanted to learn a bit, and I also have students that have continued for some years with me. I could also adjust the duration of the lessons from 30mins (especially for younger kids) to 1h.

Hi, I’m Heewon from South Korea and I currently study music in HKU Conservatory.

For about 14 years I have studied various aspects of music, I’ve studied piano, vocals and composition, and now I am studying piano in the jazz and pop course. Not only have I played lots of jazz and pop, I have played lots of classical, neo-soul and gospel, to me it’s important to be well versed in lots of genre’s. How amazing is it to play the music that lives in your head?
Piano is by no means difficult, it make’s for a great hobby and is a wonderful stress reliever.

My name is Wilma, and I have been playing the cello for most of my life. I am passionate about teaching, and have a lot of experience with it.

In my lessons, there is a good balance between technique and musicality. Knowing how to (technically) play the cello is important for being able to express yourself on it, and making beautiful music is the reason we play!

I involve my students in the process of investigating problems and experimenting with solutions. This gives people a better understanding of the challenges, and motivates them to engage with those.

Hello everyone, I'm Enrico and I come from Italy. Right now I am in Utrecht where I am doing a master's degree in cello under the guidance of Timora Rosler.
During my years of studies I always had the possibility to teach music, in fact while I was doing my Bachelor in Italy at the Conservatory of Turin, I taught cello and music theory in a private music school called "Isla de Musiqueros", in this school I had the opportunity to teach people of all ages, including children under 4 years old.
When I moved to the Netherlands little by little I started to find students and many many concerts.

I believe that playing is the best way to have fun and express your emotions, the work I want to do is work on tensions and try to help you melt away while playing, in this way you can have more sound and feel more free.

Hello there! My name is Vasilis and I am a jazz/rock/eastern traditional and classical guitar player, singer and songwriter currently studying as a 3rd year student in the Jazz and Pop guitar department of HKU conservatory. I am coming from Greece where I graduated from my first bachelor on classical guitar and the last three years I live, study, work and play in Utrecht.

My teaching career started very early, 12 years ago when my classical guitar teacher let me teach my first student and since then I have worked in multiple music schools and in private lessons with students of every age. This year I also started giving my first band coaching group lessons.

In my lessons I try to create a learning path that is formed arround the interests and taste of each student. Since I am a singer and songwriter the lessons can also focus on the creating part of music if of course the student is interested in that. I work with empathy and sensitivity arround the needs of each student.

As for my playing career, I play with multiple bands on original songs of mine or covers in different venues and festivals in Europe. The genres differ between pop, jazz, rock, eastern traditional and blues so I can give a big variety of stylistic directions to each student.

Last but not least, I am also a singer and because of my good performance in school, I was awarded from the HKU Conservatory the oportunity to follow the vocal curriculum of the school as well. So I can help you with singing too!
