About Me

Jacob (° 2003) took his first cello lessons with Liesbet Engelen. From 2011 to 2019 he was in Chantal Suys' class at the Academy of Performing Arts in Ghent. At the age of 16 he started his higher studies with Judith Ermert at the Conservatory of Ghent. From 20-21 he is in Jeroen Reuling's class at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, first as a Young Talent and now in a bachelor's degree.

Education

In recent years he had the opportunity to follow masterclasses and lessons with Gary Hoffman, Andreas Brantelid, Justus Grimm, Alexandr Khramouchin and Jerôme Pernoo.

In January 2019 Jacob won the "audience award" and with that a place in the final of the Canvas competition "Speel het hard". In the same year he was a finalist in the VLAMO competition in deSingel.

Jacob is the cello soloist of SOV Young, the youth orchestra of the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, with whom he has already played a number of projects. In 2020 he was included in the selection for RCO Young, the youth orchestra of the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.

In chamber music he performs with his brother, violinist Anton and pianist Yanna Penson, the Colbrandt Trio. He was a guest, as a young talent, in the Arte Amanti concert series of 2019, 2021 and 2022. He twice participated in the international Chamber Music Summer School of Musica Mundi.

I've been teaching cello to children, teenagers and adults for 10 years, so I've acquired the necessary experience to be able to adapt to the different and personal needs and objectives of each student. My teaching methodology focuses on creating a friendly and relaxed environment (which does not mean undemanding!) in which students feel confident to express their own ideas and worries. In my lessons I focus on technical and postural questions, but we also reflect together on the music, as I like my students to develop their own musical ideas and not just imitate the teacher.

Today - after completing an extensive selection procedure - Laurens is professionally active as a clarinetist with the Royal Marine Band, one of the prestigious orchestras of the Belgian army.

In addition to his education at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, Laurens has had the opportunity to learn several times in a number of masterclasses by, among others, Arno Piters (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Davide Lattuada (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Bart de Karter (New Amsterdam Clarinet Quartet), Pascal Moragues (Orchester de Paris), Ricardo Mataredonna (The La Monnaie Theatre), David Van Maele (Royal Music Chapel of the Guides), Bart Watté (Royal Music Chapel of the Guides) etc.

Both as a freelancer and an active member, Laurens has played in various orchestras, such as the Royal Band of the Belgian Air Force, Frascati Symphonic, the Euregio Youth Orchestra, the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra, La Chapelle Sauvage, Flanders Young Symphony Orchestra, the Ghent University Symphony Orchestra, the Ghent University Harmony Orchestra...

I am Jess, a musician and producer from Ghent, graduated as a bachelor in music at PXL Hasselt. In the meantime I have been teaching guitar for 10 years at music studios and in the form of private lessons at home. Besides teaching I have my own project called Monagi and I write/produce for bands like Tout Va Bien and Patches. I also play guitar at TheShadow Machine. All my lessons take place in a relaxed atmosphere in my music studio in Ghent at your own pace.

I'm an electric guitarist for 17 years. I've been teaching guitar for 7 years and performin live for 10 years. Currently, I'm a masters student at KASK & Conservatorium.

Depending on your preferences in terms of genre and goals on the instrument (just keeping it as a hobby or getting professional at it), your curriculum will be shaped. Also it will be conducted while studying your favorite songs. One of my main goals is for you to be able to accompany your favorite pieces and understand the ideas behind those pieces better.

Lessons can be conducted both in English and Turkish.

The sooner you start the lessons, sooner you come closer to be a better guitar player!
