I am an architectural assistant and hold a Masters degree in Architecture. Having a strong passion towards art and human behaviour has led me to shaping haptic spaces to enable a journey full of encounters. I believe our subconsciousness can be expressed through bodily movements that can initiate with the mere moment of grabbing a pencil or a brush. As a result, my class explores the poetry behind art and its essence. My teaching method revolves around finding an individual's inner characteristics and conveying this into an expressive art form. My goal is to keep students challenged, but not overwhelmed. During my class, different mediums will be tested to ignite creativity. As a result of my profession, my classes can involve digital design involving Photoshop and Illustrator. It is important to be able to understand both 2D and 3D forms and so, my teaching method can include both aspects.

My sessions would include; Set Design – How to read and analyze a script/story, what to look out for, and how to breakdown each scene. Creating visual research and mood boards and how to make clear initial sketches in whatever preferred medium, (pen, water colour Photoshop etc) An introduction to modelmaking, making basic furniture, and miniature rooms. Costume Design – Looking at costume history, how clothes have changed through the ages, and what shapes and silhouettes fit what eras. Costume drawings, looking at how to draw a clear design that could be understood by the whole creative team, as well as working with mixed media in costume design, ie. collage, photo shop. A look at costume making and sourcing, how I work as a designer when I am doing my own costumes, how I source, make or alter different items. Puppetry – An introduction to puppetry, the history and basic different types, marionette, bunraku etc. How to make your own bunraku puppet, all you would need is cardboard and gaffa tape. How to make shadow puppets out of card and straws, and how to rig a sheet and light so we can perform them.

It is my intention to engage both children and adults in creative play, and discussion, to create exciting lessons. Lessons will often be tailored towards the individual's interests, linking them to relevant artists and artistic practises. A wide range of materials and processes will be explored in the lessons, including painting, drawing, sculpture and digital art, allowing students to find their strengths. As a Fine Art and History of Art graduate it truly is my passion to ignite, distill, and grow a person's interests in Art, Design and Art History. I have experience in creating and teaching lessons for students of all ages, from 4 years of age up to adults. I also have experience tutoring GCSE and A-level students in the trickier aspects of a Fine Art qualification, where jumping through the hoops and tick the boxes that the exam boards require can often take the joy out of creating.
