We will be using Logic Pro X (and some Ableton if that's your preference) and I'll be teaching you the fundamental's of the software, how to record MIDI and audio, editing audio and MIDI, how plug ins work, tips and tricks for EQ, and plenty more. My teaching approach is centred around collaboration rather than prescription. Instead of telling students what they should learn, I take the time to understand what they want to learn. Together, we create a personalised learning plan that suits each student’s goals, abilities, and interests. I have over 10 years of experience teaching both electric and acoustic guitar, and I aim to keep every lesson fun, engaging, and interactive. Beginners usually start by learning the names of the strings and the basics of holding and handling the instrument. From there, we move on to right-hand picking techniques, introducing the left hand to play notes and chords, and gradually building up to the essential chord shapes needed to play many of the songs we all know and love. From that point onward, progress is guided by you. Whether you’d prefer to keep things simple and song-focused or dive deeper into scales, soloing, and music theory, lessons are always tailored to your comfort level and enjoyment. My goal is to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel confident, motivated, and excited to learn.

We will use Ableton as our main DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) because of its powerful tools for creating, playing, producing, and even performing your live set in front of an audience. The goal is that by the end of your training with me, you’ll have the tools you need to write, produce, and mix a song—and even perform it live, if that’s something you're aiming for.

I studied music production at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the mentorship of King James Britt, and at Abbey Road in London. I am well versed in most audio software (Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro X), using all of these in a professional setting for over 5 years. Currently, I work as an audio engineer, mixing and mastering songs for clients as well as recording in major studios across the city, as well as working remotely for the studio that I started in Oxford (Lenka's Studios). My class is for anyone interested in music as a tool for life. The focus is to learn how to play an instrument and also cultivate mindfulness habits. Music Producers and Sound Engineers, we use the expanded capabilities of studios to extend compositions into a device for arranging and composing (DAW: Logic Pro, ProTools, Ableton Live, OneStudio, Cubase, Reaper, Reason, etc). This has caused the recording studio to become a meta-instrument, to shape entire compositions. In my opinion, we are not any more composers of music, but we are composers of sound. As a music producer, not only the instrument played is decisive on the final result, but also the background elements, which can be heard or felt throughout the project, make such a big difference.

I am a professional guitarist with over 20 years of experience in playing live and as a session musician. In addition, I have been teaching guitar, piano and music technology for over 10 years in schools and colleges. My guitar teaching method (Acoustic and Electric) includes rhythm and lead guitar, technique, music theory, notation – as well as preparing students for Trinity & ABRSM grades (all pass with a “Merit”!). All ages and levels are welcome. I also teach piano/ keyboard at beginner levels and that includes learning notes, scales, right & left-hand technique and also preparing for grades. * Music technology lessons are also available (recording, mixing, and software such as Pro Tools, Logic & Cubase).
