Chemistry Class Description: This chemistry course provides students with a foundational understanding of the principles that govern the behavior of matter and its interactions. Topics include atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, acids and bases, and organic chemistry. Students will engage in both theoretical learning and hands-on laboratory experiments, helping them explore real-world applications of chemical concepts in areas such as medicine, environmental science, and industry. Painting Class Description: In this painting class, students will explore various techniques and styles, from traditional to contemporary, using a range of media such as acrylics, oils, and watercolors. The class covers foundational skills like color theory, composition, brushwork, and texture, while encouraging students to develop their own creative voice and artistic vision. Through guided projects and individual practice, students will learn to express emotions, ideas, and perspectives on canvas, building confidence in their ability to create both representational and abstract artwork. The class is designed to nurture creativity and provide an engaging environment for artists of all levels.

By the end of this lesson, students will understand the basic concepts of organic chemistry, including the structure of organic molecules, types of bonds, and the significance of functional groups. I begin the lesson by explaining what organic chemistry is and why it is important. Highlight the role of organic compounds in everyday life, such as in food, medicine, and plastics. Explain why carbon is the backbone of organic chemistry, focusing on its ability to form four covalent bonds and create complex, stable structures like chains, rings, and branches. I will introduce simple hydrocarbons (alkanes, alkenes, and benzene rings) and their general formulas. Highlight the concept of saturation and unsaturation. I will also go over common functional groups (e.g., alcohols, carboxylic acids, amines, aldehydes, ketones) and explain how these groups affect the properties and reactivity of organic molecules.
