I am a professional, TEFL and CELTA qualified ESOL teacher with 15 years experience in a wide range of teaching situations, working in Shenzhen, China for over two years (2011 – 2013), and then in Manchester, UK until now. My particular expertise is providing preparatory tuition and support to candidates taking IELTS, OET (Occupational English Test) or Cambridge ESOL exams (eg. B2 First). However, I also have extensive experience in teaching all aspects of general and business English to all levels and ages. Previous roles include working for a large, UK recruitment company where I provided online tuition, mentoring and assessment to groups of nurses in India and the Philippines and later, also Spain and Italy. I was a team member charged with facilitating these candidates’ success in IELTS (and later OET), in which they were required to achieve a minimum band score of 7 in all four sub-tests. This was essential to qualify them to work in the UK’s NHS. The process consisted of a busy weekly programme of scheduled one-to-one Skype sessions (up to 50 candidates per week) and a series of scheduled, 1-2 hour group webinars with up to 100 attendees, for which I personally produced many Power Point Presentations. I gained further remote work experience during the Covid lock-down periods, teaching groups and individuals through online platforms such as Learn Cube, Zoom, Voov (Chinese), Skype and Teams. Currently pursuing a BA Drama degree at the University of Manchester, I've studied higher level English under the International Baccalaureate (IBDP) and will make you love the language through some fun games and exercises that will rapidly strengthen your fluency of English. Classes will be online and flexible depending on the student's requirements and can be conducted as many times a week as required. The regular structure is 60 minutes per day but this can be adjusted based on the student. Classes will be held online and will be flexible based on the students' requirements. The time period will range from 30 minutes to 60 minutes per day and sessions can be scheduled based on the students' needs and urgency. My classes won't be too time consuming or stressful, as my aim is to teach the language but also make the child love the process of learning it. Classes will include fun exercises and games that made learning English a lot more easier and increase the fluency. Since I have studied English at primary, secondary, and an International (IBDP) level, I will make sure to transfer the skills of English writing and speaking proficiency as well as reading and essay writing skills, complemented by several fun conversations in English. Classes will also include getting the student to watch clips of Hollywood movies and reading extracts from novels to increase their language capabilities. By the end of the sessions, students will definitely have learned a significant amount of the language which will keep progressing and getting stronger as we continue our sessions.
