Lesson 1 This will be an introduction to the piano. I will encourage the students to play some notes on the piano, and I will talk about the importance of time, and also the stave where different notes sit on the ledger lines. This will involve playing a couple of notes, to begin with. Due to the nature of online lessons, this will mean that there is more of an element of listening required by the students and also by myself.

Violin/Piano/Music Theory/School Music Lessons available in London or online. I hold a Master of Arts with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London, as well as a Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honors from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I have an LRAM in teaching and have studied the Kodaly method for many years throughout my undergraduate degree. I am a teacher at the Stewart Bilingual School, as well as cover teaching in various schools for Camden Music Service. I have coached chamber music and taught violin for Royal Conservatoire Summer Schools Courses. I would describe myself as a highly adaptable teacher, able to implement various teaching strategies in order to tailor my teaching style to the needs of each student. I am friendly, positive and motivating, as well as being empathetic and encouraging. I believe it is important for younger students to learn that with work comes reward - a lesson that can be transferred to all walks of life.

My lessons are friendly, relaxed and interactive. We start from the music you enjoy and build your skills step by step. In class we work on songs, chords, rhythm, technique and improvisation, always in a practical and musical way. Lessons are adapted to your level and goals, whether you are a beginner or already have some experience. My goal is simple: help you understand the piano, enjoy music and feel confident playing. Feel free to send me a message and tell me what music you love!

The rule is simple: don't be afraid to make a fool of yourself! Students are encouraged to try, fail, and overall be proactive in learning new information in bite-sized chunks: all of that in a warm and comforting environment. Depending on the personal goal of the student, we will learn/refine/explore the following topics: - Fundamental techniques of playing piano - How to read and play chords - How to play an improvised solo - How to change the underlying harmonies of a song to make it sound cooler (or weirder!) - Understanding how the musical elements are glued in a song, and if you dare, how to write one yourself - How to learn music or play music by ear - Exploring piano-looking-like instruments such as electric keyboards and subtractive synthesizers Languages: English (fluent), German (B1 and improving), Korean (native)
