Learning jazz is learning 20th and 21st century popular music,since that's where it's roots are coming from.Whether being a rock musician,hip hop producer,or a pop singer,jazz is what brings everything to another level.Mastering jazz phrasing,gives any musician an elite level of rhythmical fluency. I also teach classical music,and I highly recommend it,especially for beginners,for developing the right habits from the start. Hello, my name is Oscar and I am a Violin and Piano teacher from the UK, now living in Bristol, after several years of living abroad. I've been teaching and performing on both instruments for 5 years, during, and after my studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. I have taught children from the age of four, up to adults in their late sixties, and I find all spectrums of age and ability rewarding and engaging to work with. Regarding Violin tuition, I am happy to teach up to any level. On the piano, I, however, currently prefer to teach up to an ABRSM grade 8 level, and not far above it. My musical endeavors, whilst focused predominantly on the Classical style in my early childhood, have become quite varied and I am a great lover of many different styles. I play regularly in Klezmer bands, Celtic Folk groups and I run a Gypsy Jazz Collective, besides performing with Orchestra's, Small string ensembles, and as a Solo Violinist. Whilst I wouldn't consider myself to be an expert, I thoroughly enjoy guiding people through the early stages of learning to improvise, and I am equally comfortable working with students in this way as I am teaching in a more traditional, classically-orientated manner. The talking and theory is secondary, most important is to play and then see how to listen and adapt from there. My students have fun, they enjoy our lessons, otherwise they don't practise and make progress :) It is important that our lesson is making you more independant and secure to play and understand music on your own! I have teaching experiences since fourteen years, I studied music education, piano, harpsichord which I will use for your understanding. This year I will only focus on teaching people over 12 years old. If you live 15minutes by bike from me, there is the possibility to come to your home. Since 2013 he is the founder and the artistic director of the Carloforte Music Festival since 2013, where he has been collaborating with fine soloists such as Anna Tifu, Paoletta Marrocu, Enkelejda Shkosa, Eric Silberger, Romeo Scaccia, Fabio Furia and Alice Lestang. In 2014, was invited by Lorin Maazel to participate as Associate Conductor at the Castleton Festival. Andrea has already performed in the major european concert halls including Berliner Philharmonie and Palais de Beaux Arts in Bruxelles. He conducted the Berliner Camerata, the Orchestre Regional de Cannes, the Berlin Sinfonietta, SymphoniaASSAI, the Ensemble Orchestral de Valencia, the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Cagliari, the Ruse Philharmonic, the Moldavian National Orchestra, the Jenaer Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.
