Online Piano Assessment and Summer Piano Reset Plan

Fully online piano assessment and focused follow-up lessons in English for serious students who want a clear professional view of their current level, their main technical-musical bottleneck and the next practical steps.
This is not a casual lesson. It is a structured professional assessment for students who practise regularly but do not fully understand why their playing still does not sound free, stable, expressive or convincing.
I am a Russian-trained concert pianist and piano educator with more than 20 years of teaching experience, international performance background, recordings, masterclasses and academic-level teaching experience.
I teach piano as an integrated system: sound, movement, rhythm, phrasing, memory, musical understanding and intelligent practice.
During the assessment, I look at the student’s playing as a complete musical and technical system:
— sound and tone quality
— body coordination and technical freedom
— rhythm, pulse and inner stability
— phrasing and musical direction
— articulation and dynamics
— reading and understanding the score
— voice balance, harmony, form and musical logic
— memory and reliability
— practice method and self-checking skills
After the session, the student receives a written summary with the main observations, the central bottleneck and a concrete practice plan for the next stage of work.

60 minutes online + written summary with a concrete practice plan
2. Piano Assessment + 4 focused follow-up lessons
After the assessment, we can continue with 4 online lessons focused on improving the main bottleneck: reading, rhythm, sound, movement, phrasing, memory or practice strategy.
Format: assessment session + 4 focused online lessons
This format can be especially useful during the summer break, before the new school year, before an exam, recording or performance, after a long break from piano, or when the student feels that regular practice is not bringing the expected progress.
The goal is not simply to add more pieces or more practice time. The goal is to understand what exactly is blocking progress and to build a clearer, more effective way of working.

About Me
I am an attentive, engaged and highly structured teacher. My lessons are serious in content, but the atmosphere is calm, friendly and respectful.
I explain clearly what we are working on, why it matters and how to practise it effectively. I pay close attention to the individual student: their current level, musical interests, strengths, difficulties and pace of development.
I believe that demanding work and a supportive atmosphere are completely compatible. A student should understand what is happening in the lesson, feel the progress they are making and gradually become less dependent on the teacher.
I enjoy working with people who are genuinely interested in music and want to understand it more deeply, whether they are beginning from scratch, returning after many years or already working at an advanced level.
I explain clearly what we are working on, why it matters and how to practise it effectively. I pay close attention to the individual student: their current level, musical interests, strengths, difficulties and pace of development.

Experience / Qualifications
I have 23 years of professional teaching experience, including university-level teaching at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and extensive private work with students of different ages and levels.
For more than twenty years I also worked as a performing pianist, appearing in Russia and internationally across Europe, Asia and South America as a soloist and chamber musician.
I received first prizes at the Salieri–Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition in Verona, Italy, in 2010 and the Max Reger Chamber Music Competition in Karlsruhe, Germany, in 2011.
My discography includes two chamber music albums released by the Russian label Melodiya.
My teaching ranges from strong foundations and fluent score reading to advanced repertoire and performance preparation. With experienced students, I also use professional approaches such as mental practice and principles drawn from Stanislavski’s system.

You can spend years learning one new piece after another and still remain at roughly the same level: reading note by note, struggling to see the connections within the music, and feeling helpless without a teacher. The repertoire changes, while the quality of playing, musical thinking and independence change very little.
I do not believe this should be the normal outcome of piano lessons.
The most valuable part of playing the piano is the feeling of genuinely owning the music: being able to enter its world, experience it fully and bring your own musical hearing to life at the instrument. My role as a teacher is to make the path from the score to that state as direct and natural as possible.
I teach music as a system and a language. Students learn to see the musical logic behind the notation: to understand harmony and form, follow the direction of a phrase, recognise style and character, and gradually become more fluent and independent musicians.
My teaching is rooted in the Russian academic piano tradition, but the repertoire can be classical, modern, film, anime or jazz-oriented. What matters is that the work remains serious, attentive and musically meaningful.
I work with motivated teenagers and adults, from beginners to advanced players.
With beginners, I aim to make score reading fluent and natural as early as possible while developing an understanding of how music works from the inside.
If a student already plays but feels stuck, I identify what is actually limiting further progress. Difficulties that seem separate are often connected, and I work with the underlying cause rather than treating each symptom in isolation.
After a long break, I help bring existing knowledge and skills back into active use, identify the genuine gaps and organise what remains into a working system from which the student can move forward.
With advanced students, the work can include mental practice and principles from Stanislavski’s system.
