Currently, I am a year one teacher and I have experience working in pre-school and foundation. Both these roles allowed me to create a positive and stimulating learning environment and tailor my teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs and abilities of each child, including those with special needs. I am responsible for teaching whole class phonics lessons, as well as guiding daily one-to-one and small group interventions of mixed ability children, supporting the children with foundational skills necessary for reading and writing. This includes blending sounds together to read words, segmenting words into sounds for spelling, and developing their fluency and comprehension skills.
I seek to develop opportunities that best reflect the needs of the children in my care. Therefore, in addition to my qualifications, I have actively pursued CPD, which includes training in phonics, safeguarding, reflective learning, first aid, and mental health. I prioritise community connections through collaborative initiatives involving parents/guardians and regular positive reinforcement.
