About Me
My essential educational philosophy is eclectic. I am prepared to use whichever method, technique, or approach works well in a given situation. I believe that my students' results in Art, History and Civic Education would suggest that my teaching strategies have been most effective. A teacher should have high expectations of his/her students and a passion for his/her particular specialization; the latter is usually infectious. I would describe myself as a very motivated, passionate and effective classroom teacher, who can inspire any kind of student and who can encourage the development of softer skills through co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities. As evidenced in my CV, I have led many projects that stemmed from beyond the curricular requirements and required an extensive amount of time and devotion on the students' part. Despite the effort required, my students loved these projects and in a number of cases won national prizes for them.

After twenty successful years of elementary and secondary school teaching in the Czech Republic, my thirst for knowledge and continuous personal and professional development prompted me to expand my experience beyond the traditional classroom set up. Therefore, I decided to request a sabbatical retreat and have spent over four years expanding my artistic competencies and applying them to artistic carpentry, woodwork, furniture design, as well as to the education of children with social and personal challenges.
