I've been teaching painting and drawing for five years, both in private lessons and groups. I'm also a self-taught artist, so I know how exciting (and sometimes frustrating!) learning art can be. I've made plenty of mistakes myself, and I know what it's like to be a student. That's why I don't believe in one method for everyone. About Me

Art has always been a big part of my life, and teaching it is something I truly love. I especially enjoy seeing someone discover their own way of creating and becoming more confident along the way. I truly believe anyone can learn to draw and paint well, with practice, patience, and the right guidance. I've had teachers who made me grow enormously, and I want to offer that same feeling to my students. I enjoy watching their progress and learning process with the same excitement I feel for my own. For me, it's a shared passion, and that's what makes teaching so rewarding :)

I studied drawing and painting at the Barcelona Academy of Art, focusing on traditional techniques, observation, anatomy and figurative art. I have over five years of experience teaching drawing and painting to both individual students and groups, in both Spanish and English. I teach a variety of techniques, including watercolor, oil painting, acrylic painting and drawing. I adapt each class specifically to the goals, interests and level of every student, whether they want to develop their technique, explore their creativity or simply enjoy the process of making art.

From drawing, oil painting to creative thinking training through materiality.
Each age is special and different visual styles can be worked upon and the outcomes can often be surprisingly authentic. Those anticipations are the basis of each class. My classes are designed through collaborations when it comes to experimentations or intersected fields and mediums, which is an option and pertinent characteristic of approach.

Classes are applicable to students who are 16+ of all levels .
Personal Portfolio Class:
If you are considering applying for art school or design school, you might want to prepare yourself and build a convincing portfolio, perhaps improve your presentation skill or even some confidence boost for interviews.
We will first explore what talents you already have and those you will want/need to have, the goal is to help you develop your creativity and curiosity as well as your artistic skills and most importantly find out your inner talent for a direction that will suit you, whether in education or self-development. And we will do a live rehearsal for your interview for the best presentation result and confidence boost. Overall, It'll help you cultivate the soft and hard skills you need to be more confident setting and resetting expectations, strengthening relationships, and taking your projects across the finish line without any cold sweat.

For teenagers: are highly encouraged to experiment with different materials and techniques and preferably through themes - selected by me or the student's likings as well. We will also look at specific Artists and Painters, as well as specific Art History periods, and the kids will then be encouraged to play around and recreate their own version of the Artist or period. Needless to say that class do not necessarily mean free-time activity, the academic material is intentionally or not(unconsciously) always a present element of my instructive performance. Therefore, the game becomes a teaching/learning relation, whilst teaching and learning turn into a recreational joyful moment for all participants.

I challenge you and I support you to develop your skills step by step, adapted to your level, into a fully-fledged work of art. We start with basic techniques, shadows, proportions, then we can make still lifes, portraits and even compositions.
I work as a museum teacher in various museums, including The Rembrandt House and the Hermitage. I am involved in a broad educational offer for various groups and individuals: from students in groups 4, 5 and 6 to gymnasium students and adults interested in culture and history. With a background melting classical and contemporary clarinet performance, to theatrical movement, masks, and storytelling, I bring a fresh approach to music education. My experience includes leading creative workshops for children through the Philharmonie de Paris and developing artistic projects for young audiences.

In my classes, we explore sound as character, rhythm as movement, and performance as story.

Hi! I'm Julia, a Fine Art student at HKU, and I love helping kids explore their creativity through art. I offer fun, personalised art classes for children aged 4-13, where they can experiment, express themselves, and develop their artistic skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.

I grew up in Asia and the UK, so I'm fluent in both Dutch and English-meaning I can also mix in some language tutoring if that's something you'd like!

ABOUT THE CLASS:

Do you have a character in your head, a story you’ve been thinking about, or simply an urge to draw and wonder what might happen if you turned it into a comic?

In this class, we’ll explore how to develop your ideas into sequential form. We’ll work on drawing skills, character development, composition, page layouts, pacing, and the relationship between images and text. We’ll also look at inspiring examples from comics, graphic novels, and art history.
Depending on your interests, we might create a short comic, develop a character or story, or begin working towards a longer project. You don’t need to have a finished story, or even know exactly what you want to make. We can start small, experiment with ideas, and build towards a larger project.

There are no specific requirements regarding materials. We can work with pencil and paper, ink, color, or digital tools. If you would like to work digitally, you will need to bring your own laptop and software; there are many excellent open-source and inexpensive options available.

ABOUT ME:

I am a lifelong comics lover, as well as an artist, architect, and published comic book author. My background in architecture helps me create convincing worlds, environments, and backgrounds, while my professional experience in animation has given me a good understanding of timing and pace. I look forward to exploring this amazing medium further with you!
