About Me

I started piano lessons at the age of seven, however only when I was a teenager I started learning music that I really loved and my interest in piano skyrocketed. That is why I believe piano lessons should be fun and engaging for students so they want to sit down and practice what they love. To help achieve this I include educational games in lessons with kids to reinforce concepts in a fun and memorable way.

Personally, I learned piano in a traditional classical way, I sat my grade 8 and senior cert exams in 2015/16 and I offer optional grade exams like these to my students, either with the Royal Irish Academy of Music or the Associated Board of the royal school of music but they are not compulsory. I completed my bachelor's degree in Music from TU Dublin Conservatoire in 2020 majoring in Piano Performance. My sights are now on getting my fellowship-level diploma.

I use a wide variety of method books with students in my studio. Sometimes it takes a few weeks to find the perfect book for each student's unique learning style. Some of my favourites include piano adventures, Get Set Piano, piano safari, and Poco Piano. I expect all students I work with to practice regularly (at least 6 days a week). Being consistent is key to success in playing piano. Music is a language and if you don't use it, you lose it! My current clientele makes up is 52% of adults. The current age range is 5 to 76. I recommend 30-minute lessons for all ages however if a student is either learning advanced repertoire or working on grade 6+ a longer lesson of 45 minutes or one hour may be necessary.

Education

Completed RIAM grades 1 to 8. RIAM senior cert, Bachelor of Music (Hons) specializing in Performance completed in 2020. I'm currently preparing for my FTCL exam.

Experience / Qualifications

I have over 7 years of teaching and performance experience. I have worked at many music schools in Europe and the US. Recently I joined the CBOI to play a sold-out concert tour in Ireland which ended with a sold-out show in Carnegie Hall in March. I'm an avid accompanist and accompany 50+ Instrumentalists for exams every year.

Piano is the instrument used by the romantics to make their most beautiful music, but also by the most experimental and modern composers to create their craziest music wonders. Isn't it a great instrument to play?

With more than 5 years of experience teaching in music schools and 15 years as a private piano teacher, I developed an efficient and "fun-but-efficient" way to teach how to play the instrument. Hello! My name is Jade. I’m an undergraduate student and have been playing the piano for 15 years; I graduated from the Geneva Conservatory.

In my lessons, I focus on practice and improving technique. Although I have prepared lessons and pieces, I give my students a great deal of freedom in choosing their sheet music, the intensity of their lessons, and the type of instruction they need. I see the piano as a passion and, above all, an art form which, as such, shouldn’t become a source of stress or frustration. We’ll make progress through small successes and can explore a variety of genres, from classical music to songs, pop, and even film scores.

My priorities are for students to learn the notes and develop the ability to read sheet music easily, as well as rhythm and interpretation.
We can complement this approach with training in musical ear and singing, as well as the basics of music analysis.
