About Me

My name is An-Sofie and I have been studying singing for 15+ years. I graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp for Classical Singing and will continue my studies/career abroad in the coming year. Even though I am classically trained; I have also played in musicals (Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie...) and have experience with light/pop music.

I have been teaching singing in all styles for more than 5 years, both privately and in an academy, and I am also active as a vocal coach in musicals and other musical performances.

I graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp for classical singing and later specialized in Italy and Portugal. Even though I am classically trained; I have also played in musicals and sing in various ensembles where pop/light music is central. One certainly does not have to exclude the other!

Hollywood Actor's Showcase and Richie's Acting Workshop is one of the best-known, most influential acting schools in the United States. After 30 years of training for aspiring actors and Hollywood stars (including Scarlett Johansson and Drew Barrymore), she teamed up with Belgium's Badass Intensive Acting Studios last year to expand European. The goal is simple: to bring the authentic energy of Hollywood to Europe, so that even people who cannot afford to move to America themselves can receive the same education.

There are not many acting courses that focus on acting in front of the camera. After all, most schools teach you — implicitly or explicitly — theater techniques and while the art of acting itself remains central, it should be clear that acting for TV and film requires slightly different skills, as it usually involves subtler, smaller expressions and movements. . Hi!

Have you always wanted to learn to sing?

I love passing on the knowledge of my craft. The mechanics of the voice is such a small and intricate thing, and knowing what goes inside our throat and body is a very special experience. I get excited and moved every time a student achieves a new skill, and takes another step towards a deeper understanding of their voice.
On top of my experience as a singer and a teacher, I have a degree in linguistics. That allows me to know exactly what has to be done inside your throat and mouth in order to produce a specific sound. I can therefore adapt to each student: if they have an analytic mind, I can explain what goes on inside and what should be done to improve that. If they have an instinctive mind, I can help with metaphor in order to help the phonation. Or both! My method is multi-faceted because each voice is unique, and it is my job to adapt, and not the contrary.

How does a lesson work?
The first time we meet, we will talk about your journey in the music world. What have you done yet music wise, what artists and genres inspire you, what are your goals. Then we will do what we do in every regular lesson: I will direct you during some warming-up exercises, that include vocal technique work (if you have already warmed up, we just do a few exercises about technique), and then we will work on whatever you want. I ask my students to always come with at least one piece of music they want to work on (or maybe two, depends on the time we have on hands).

Acting classes in Antwerp. For actors, by an actor.
I give workshops on location in the youth center Kavka, but I also give self-tape workshops that take place completely digitally.

During these workshops you will become acquainted with the Meisner and Chubbuck acting techniques. These are techniques used by actors such as Robert De Niro, Charlize Theron, Christoph Waltz, Chadwick Boseman, Halle Berry etc.
