PhD Candidate in Music at the University of Cambridge teaching Essay and Dissertation Skills

Approach to Teaching
– I favor a structured approach. I devise lesson plans in advance of every lesson, catering to the student's specific needs.
– Academic lessons tend to be structured around specific sections of the syllabus, or particular topics that students require help with.
– I employ a seminar-style format. I flesh out ideas with the aid of quotations, other audio-visual resources, and analytical commentary. I structure my lesson plans with a view to providing gaps, in which students are able to ask questions about the content. I am also happy for students to interrupt the flow of the lesson if a burning question arises.
– I use Powerpoint to provide students with a variety of resources and visual stimuli.

Lesson Structure
– Academic lessons tend to be 45 minutes to an hour in length, but I can adapt my teaching schedule to provide students with additional support if needed.
– Typically violin lessons range in length from 30 minutes to an hour, but I am flexible: I am more than happy to devise a lesson structure that caters to a student's requirements.

Academic Credentials
– I am a candidate for a Ph.D. in Music at the University of Cambridge.
– I hold an MPhil in Music from the University of Cambridge, where I specialized in Historical Musicology and Musical Aesthetics.
– I have a first-class music degree (74.4%) from the University of Manchester, where I won three Hargreaves Prizes for Academic Achievement.
– I have worked as an Assistant Music Teacher, which involved teaching Music A-Level students.

Professional Credentials
– I have worked as a private violin teacher for 7 years (since I was 17). I have taught a variety of students, from beginners starting their instrumental training to more advanced performers looking to improve their technical facility and performance skills.
– I have an extensive portfolio of performing credits on documentary films. Recent highlights include the BAFTA-nominated score for the BBC docuseries on Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein 'House of Maxwell' (BBC2, 2022), and 'Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In' (Netflix) (Passion Pictures / Universal Pictures) (2021).
– I have extensive experience as an orchestral musician and chamber music performer. I led the University of Cambridge Experimental Music Ensemble (CUEME) when I was studying for my master's degree at the University of Cambridge. I also led the University of Manchester Chamber Orchestra in the second year of my undergraduate degree at the University of Manchester and premiered a good deal of new music with The Eskandari String Quartet.
– I have performed at the West Road Concert Hall (University of Cambridge), the Lee Tseng Hall (Wolfson College Cambridge), the Buxton International Festival, the Manchester International Festival, and Bridgewater Hall.
– I achieved a distinction (92%) in my ATCL Diploma in violin performance, and a First (78%) in the final violin recital of my undergraduate degree.

Reviews (1)

My first lesson with Daniel was just what I wanted and more. Daniel made me feel very comfortable and let me play some music I had been working on. Then Daniel looked at all aspects of my playing in a thorough manner and signposted plans for future lessons. I was really wanting my technique to be reviewed thoroughly and Daniel did exactly this, in a very supportive and encouraging manner. It was incredible to hear the change to my playing Daniel helped me make within the hour. Looking forward to the next lesson! Many thanks!
Approach to Teaching – I favour a structured approach. I devise lesson plans in advance of every lesson, catered to the student's specific needs. – Violin lessons tend to be carefully planned to focus on specific technical aspects of performance. To train musicality, I often teach this through the use of Kreutzer and Fiorillo etudes, Dont studies, and also pieces of repertoire catered to the student's musical interests and technical requirements. – I am open to considering student repertoire suggestions if they are particularly passionate about a certain piece.

Mathematics, History , the orient culture , Arabic ,Heritage
My passion and love for mathematics, as well as my love for teaching this subject for many years, has been reflected in everything around me, as has my belief that students' mastery of this subject allows them to move smoothly into the other subjects because it helps expand the student's understanding of the other subjects. My passion and love for history stem from my understanding since I do not consider history to be a study subject, but rather a journey of seeking the truth, which if we do not achieve now, we will repeat the same mistakes of the past, but in the future.

Learn Armenian language, grammar, literature and history in Western Armenian.
Western Armenian is a language that has been put in the endangered language's list, and I personally believe that such a rich language should never die. I believe that I am taking a huge initiative to be one of the individuals who'll try to save this important language from disappearing. I try to make my lessons as interacting as possible. The lessons and exercises will be provided through PowerPoint presentations. I try to listen to my student in order to prepare the lesson plan together, according to his needs and preferences. I've always been the smiling and friendly tutor who makes the student comfortable during the lessons. I believe that in order to reach the students you need to understand them also emotionally and psychologically.

A class for students/those interested in politics and philosophy
Hello, future thinkers and aspiring philosophers! I'm Ollie, and I'm honoured to invite you on a journey into the realms of Politics and Philosophy. Armed with a passion for critical thinking and a comprehensive academic background, I hold a degree in Politics and Philosophy from the University of Sussex, complemented by A-level qualifications in the same subjects. 🎓 Academic Journey: During my university years, I delved deep into the intricacies of political theory and philosophical inquiry. My dissertation, a labor of intellectual love, explored the pertinent question of whether the 'New Left' bore any responsibility for the rise of right-wing populism. This investigative journey allowed me to navigate the complex intersections between ideology, society, and political movements. 📖 Key Modules: My academic journey was enriched by a diverse range of modules, each contributing to my comprehensive understanding of the subjects. Some of the key modules that have shaped my perspective include: Existentialism: Unraveling the profound questions of existence and individuality. Phenomenology: Exploring the structures of consciousness and the nature of experience. Philosophy of Religion: Investigating the fundamental questions surrounding faith, belief, and existence. Epistemology: Delving into the nature and scope of knowledge and belief. European Politics: Analyzing the political landscape of Europe, its challenges, and its evolving dynamics.
