About Me

Hey! I'm Elize and I've been immersed in music all of my life.

I started studying music at the age of three because of my mother who's a choir conductor and singer so I would join her in choirs at that age - later I was part of many choir collectives, singing festivals and vocal performances. At the age of five I started playing cello in music school and started to truly learn theory and music history. Three years later I started learning piano, too. I've been studying, performing, writing ever since - and I've been professionally teaching cello, piano, theory and composition for the last six years.

I've performed as a soloist, chamber musician and part of an orchestra. It's difficult to think of a genre I haven't performed for an audience. Not only have I been involved with academic music but I've been part of big bands, jazz ensembles, function bands and rock bands. I've been a session musician and a lone entertainer - all of these experiences have made me a better musician and I choose to focus my experience to help others on their musical journey.

I just graduated from one of the best music universities in the world - the Royal College of Music and, while it was a challenging experience, it gave me a lot of valuable insight on how we best process musical information and what we sometimes do that's wasteful.

Experience / Qualifications

Baccalaureate in music education and performance, master's in performance.
Six years of teaching privately and professionally.
I've also tutored in summer workshops at the Latvian Music Festivals in Madona, Latvia.
Feel like picking up a new hobby? Want to refresh your knowledge? Looking for a new way to be creative? Why not learn how to read and write music - who knows, maybe you're a composer at heart? I have created a seven step program that takes you through the basics and teaches how to recognize clefs, range, and expands the limits of possibilities. While day 1 is an introduction on the build of music and what notes are, by day 5 you already understand how key signatures work and how to write down a tune that you hear somewhere. Or, maybe, you have an instrument and always wanted to be able to pick up a piece of music and be able to play it? Or, perhaps, it is time to become the composer and notate your creations to better remember and share? Whatever it might be, learning to read and write music gives you a new, exciting skill and opens a door to a whole new world!
No matter where you are in your musical journey, theory is necessary to gain musical freedom. Even knowing the basics allows an aspiring musician to start creating arrangements, compose, transpose, read music better, look for different colours in harmony, and much more. I have designed a course that will bring students through the aspects of theory, notation, harmony, structure and form to help them become more fluent in reading, composing or performing.

Ilona
Result-oriented professional cello instructor with 11+ years of experience
Hi everyone! My name is Ilona, I am a professional cellist and cello teacher with Master’s Degree. My teaching experience is more than 11 years, with 3 years experience of online teaching. Online learning how to play cello is completely acceptable for all levels and ages from 8 years old. Either you are a Zero Beginner or you are preparing to pass entry exam to conservatory - I will explain you how to practice to become more effective on cello. My current students are from 8 till 51 years old, they are from different countries of the world. I always work for result, so from time to time our lessons could be longer then 1 hour just because we haven't finished the lesson's plan (without any extra pay). There are two main parts which you should know before starting to learn cello with me: when you play cello you use your body (arms, fingers) for creating sound and you use your soul and emotions for creating music. At the very beginning we will learn how to create the sound, which later you will use to show your emotions. If you do have any questions, please, don't hesitate to message me. Currently I'am teaching online only.

Cello and / or music theory lessons in Brussels and Merchtem
My name is Dorelle and I play cello and piano since I was little. For me, art in general plays a particularly important role in life :-) Currently, after a year of Erasmus in Germany I will finish my studies in Leuven at the Lemmensistituut. The important thing for me in learning the cello is to have fun while making sure to find a good position that will not generate tensions later. I give an hour of class in general, but can adapt to the desires of the student without worry, whether in terms of course times or to find cool songs that change the repertoire "classic"! I can also help more advanced students who need support to pass an exam or progress more quickly.
