I am a trained opera singer with 12 years of teaching experience as a choir conductor and vocal coach, and I continue to perform on the operatic and concert stage. The focus of this class is to learn healthy singing techniques which include breathing, support, posture, and vocalisation, I am happy to work with lyric, classical/pop and musical theatre repertoire - the fundamental techniques of singing are the same and we will be working towards establishing a good foundation so that you can understand your own instrument better. The language of instruction will be mainly in English, but I am experienced in singing in English, German, Italian and French, so don't feel restricted by way of language as well. No worries if you are an absolute beginner - there is no age/gender limit or pre-requisite. Everyone has a voice, and I would love to help you find yours! I am a first-language English speaker, with a bachelor degree in law from Singapore, a Masters Degree in Music (Distinction) and Advanced Postgraduate Diploma (Distinction) from Manchester, UK. I currently live in and sing with the opera studio in Biel, Switzerland, where I myself continue to further my skills and actively perform as a musician.

Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice.
