About Me

Hi! I am a friendly young man who has just moved to Bristol to do a course in Environmental Science. I love the atmosphere of this city, and am keen to go to and play gigs in the diverse musical scene here. I am currently living with friends from Devon in Hotwells, and one of the things that kept us sane during lockdown was writing and performing music together. I have tutored several of my friends in guitar and enjoy an informal tutor-student dynamic; one of the best ways to learn is just by jamming!

As a composer and producer with wide ranging skills, I balance tailoring my lessons to each individual pupil, while also looking to broaden their musical abilities with relatable knowledge. For example, teaching classical composers recording and mixing techniques to help them create recordings of their works, or teaching dance music producers jazz harmony to create interesting chord sequences.

I am also able to provide support for GCSE/BTec/A Level courses.

I specialise in private violin tuition and music theory tuition for people of any level of experience from beginner to intermediate level. I have taught music theory for 7 years, helping students to reach Grade 5 and above, enabling them to progress in their musicianship, and to go on to study music at university. I believe that theory is not only an incredibly important part of learning music but can also be a fun way to engage with the different elements of music. Practical application of theory, as well as purely theoretical learning, is an essential way of solidifying the knowledge, and how I believe theory should be taught. Having studied Trombone, Piano, and Music Theory I have intimate knowledge of the ABRSM Grades and can offer tuition to help students achieve the grades they need.
