Award-winning soprano Kayleigh offers fun and engaging singing lessons in the classical and musical theatre styles.

Kayleigh is a highly sought after singer, performing all over the world. She has sung on stages in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Marrakesh and Ireland. She holds both an undergraduate and a masters degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in classical singing. Prior to this she studied at Mountview Academy in Musical Theatre and has worked equally in both genres.

Kayleigh has been teaching for over ten years and values this side of her portfolio career. She loves working with children and currently holds a teaching position at a school. I have extensive training in music and singing and have attended The Brit School, gaining Triple Distinction* as well as Trinity Laban Conservatoire, where I graduated this year with a first class honours degree. For five months of my degree I was awarded an Erasmus scholarship to study Norwegian folk music at The Grieg Academy, Norway. This trip helped to sculpt my music and my current projects take a lot of influence from folk as well as free jazz and free improvisation.

I have taught privately for two years after training for eight years. I teach budding vocalists of all ages. I have helped prepare students for exams as well as encouraged students back into singing after years out of practice. I like to take a creative approach with students, to engage with them about short and long term goals as well as encouraging them to keep practice diaries to document their progress and for self evaluation.

I am very passionate about teaching as I believe it is one of the most rewarding activities - watching someone grow as they learn not only the basics of technique but when they start to develop their own sound. I believe I am an inspiring teacher and firm but fair when it comes to homework and discipline. It doesn’t matter which age or which singing level you currently are - everyone is welcome in my classes. I truly believe that anyone can sing and that everyone should experience the joy of singing.

In the singing lesson we look at breathing, vocal technique, language, expression and interpretation. I take much pleasure in watching a student grow and facilitating their development and helping them on their own path. The most important thing to me is that they enjoy using their voice and telling a story through music.

I have recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with a Master of Music degree with distinction. Through the developing of my private practice, I am becoming increasingly interested and deeply passionate about teaching singing and singing pedagogy. For me, music – and especially singing – is all about communication, between performer and audience, between composer and performer/audience, between teacher and student; it is about conveying a story and human emotions that people can relate to and that give us a sense of connection and belonging.
