About Me

I am passionate about Drums and Percussion in all forms and styles, I love sharing my experiences and views with my students in order for them to fulfill their musical potential
For me is about to enable students to enjoy playing drums and percussion to their highest level. I have many years of successful stories.

Education

In the Summer of 1996, he successfully completed a 3 year Master’s degree at The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, in Holland. He studied at the National School of Music of the University of Mexico, finishing with first honors in 1992.

Experience / Qualifications

Alonso has taught at all levels of the education system in the UK, from primary school years in different counties to postgraduate level at five universities: the University of Leicester, De Montfort University, and Birmingham City University. He teaches at Royal Holloway University in London, the University of Chichester, and Windlesham House School. He has taught at Portsmouth Grammar School and West Sussex Music Trust in Worthing. I have taught at all levels of the UK education system, from primary school years in various counties to postgraduate level at five universities.
My primary role is to offer students methods and options to help them achieve their goals. I am committed to ensuring they have a sense of direction and progress, encouraging them to excel through the exam syllabus. However, the choice ultimately lies with them. I have successfully guided numerous students from beginners to Grade 8 in Drumkit and Orchestral Percussion with all significant music boards, including ABRSM, Trinity College, and Rockschool.
Additionally, my extensive studies make me confident in delivering professional results across a wide range of musical styles. Three of my students have pursued Music degrees at different universities, including King's College London, Royal Holloway, and the University of West Sussex.

This class is for anyone who wishes to take up the violin for the first time, or who hasn't played for a while.
I tailor lessons to suit every student.
I teach everything from how to hold the violin, create a beautiful sound, alongside learning how to read music.
I would prefer to teach in person at the pupil's home, however I can teach via webcam if required.

Each class has 1 hour and consists of musical education and piano practice. It's aimed at piano beginners and intermediates.

My student's satisfaction and fulfillment are my number 1 priority and I assure this by providing a personalised experience, considering student's learning pace, capabilities and objectives.

I love teaching piano and violin and have taught many students, adults and children, beginners to advanced. I have also taught children and adults with learning disabilities. Each lesson is tailored to each individual and pupils can learn to play through classic/rock/pop music. Lessons are fun they also include improvisation and music quizzes and music theory. Grades may also be worked towards and taken if pupil wishes and all my pupils have achieved merits or distinctions.

I have played violin for shows in provincial theatres and in the Millitaire Orchestra at Mansion House, Guildhall, Tower of London and The Painted Hall in Greenwich and also played in various quartets for weddings. I have a PA system and play an electric violin for weddings and functions playing pop or classical music. I have also taken a year's course in introduction to Music Therapy which was a very interesting course and am currently studying for Certificate for Music Educators.

We can start right at the beginning or jump in at your preferred level.

I can show you some simple tools to demystify the roots of music theory, using the stave and piano to visualise, explore and practice to help you accomplish a secure foundation in turn supporting your musical development, exam preparation (GCSE/diploma/degree), develop teaching knowledge/practice (F.E/H.E), compositional/repertoire development etc.

Using innovative strategies to enhance the learning experience and (hopefully) make learning music theory fun!
