MariannaExperienced Tutor of Italian and English as a Second language
I am a tutor of Italian and English as a foreign/second language. I had the opportunity to teach in different contexts with multicultural groups of students from many countries and backgrounds. I am currently teaching Italian to individual students and corporate clients with different language requirements and purposes. I have also conducted a preparation course for Italian GCSE and A level exams in London. I teach to all levels and ages using a communicative and student-centred approach. My lessons are very interactive and focused on real life and cultural situations. I care about my students’ learning progress and achievements and I am keen to guide them in a friendly, dedicated and respectful manner. Moreover, one of my main goals as a teacher is to enable my students to enjoy the experience of communicating, thinking and reacting in a foreign language.

MariaFrench, affordable and for all levels and purposes!
For all levels, for both children and adults, and diploma preparation. All aspects of the language would be targeted during the lessons, emphasizing those desired by the student (ex: conversational, grammar) Depending on the level and the method of study will be adapted to each student, with outside-of-class follow up. The classes will be conducted in either English, French, or both, once again depending on the needs and the level of the student. Classes focused on the reinforcement of the language can also be organised, focused on specific topics that the student is interested in, which will allow the student not to lose the language and to develop further their knowledge of lexicon in the specific area. In what concerns diploma preparation, the lessons will focus on the particularities of the tests (timing, response format, lexicon, etc).

I am a UK-qualified teacher with a decade of experience teaching and leading at some of the best international schools around the world - Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. My work teaching and leading departments in schools included curriculum planning and design, assessing & tracking hundreds of students, supporting student university applications, and implementation of additional measures for students with specific learning support needs. I believe that education is most effective as an interesting, constructive and engaging discussion between student, class and teacher; enjoyable and stimulating, rather than stressful and pressure-laden. I keep my classes light and relevant, while also maintaining high standards for students to build their expectations for themselves. I am CELTA-qualified and my experiences teaching non-native English around the world have helped me understand the challenges faced by students studying subjects in their second- or third- language. FR - Hi, I'm Lucie and I would be happy to help you learn English, whether it's from scratch or to improve your knowledge. I love getting my students to speak since I think practice is the secret to learning a language and improving knowledge. I always structure my classes according to themes based on real life (how to present myself, how to make an appointment, to go shopping, to go to the doctor, English at work, etc.). We will see together grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. If you are intermediate, we will also do text lessons. We will put both grammar and vocabulary into practice. EN - Hi, I'm Lucie and I would be glad to help you learn English, be it from scratch or to help you improve. I always structure my lessons according to subjects based on daily life situations (how to introduce yourself, how to make an appointment, shopping / grocery, going to the doctors, professional language, etc). We'll go through the grammar, vocab, and pronunciation. If you're intermediate, we'll also do some lessons about reading comprehensions. We'll put both the grammar and vocab in practice.
HenryEnglish Literature and Language for GCSE and A-Level
I find students typically respond best to an lesson-style that closely mirrors Oxbridge-style supervisions, which might be called diagnostic; a written homework task provides not only useful opportunity for correcting rather specific details of style, grammar and dialectic --thus developing the corresponding skill of self-criticism -- but also serves as a springboard for explorations into the history, context, literary techniques and critical response of the work, or works at hand. I hope to help the student move beyond the set-texts, authors, or plays; not only because this would of itself be interesting, helping to develop the enthusiasm that is certainly the most vital ingredient for success in exams, but because being acquainted with the broader literary/cultural context that a work is situated greatly deepens one’s understanding of it. Moving beyond the set-texts needn’t be very time-consuming; often a few short articles, a chapter of a book, a poem or a play can dramatically broaden one’s perspective. Together with acquiring knowledge of historical context, the chief aims of my lessons will also be to help the student develop their ability to analyze texts.
