I am quite passionate about sharing my knowledge, and not just teaching kids, but mentoring them during their course of study.

The first lesson would include understanding the needs of a student, his/her interests, core understanding of the topic, points of weakness, and method of studying. A study plan is drawn, and an end goal is decided. The course of the next lessons is to ensure that the study plan is stuck to and that it helps the student reach the final aim.

A regular lesson post that would begin with a quick revision of what was learned in the previous lesson, covering topics from the study plan, ensuring that the weak points are faced without fear. The end of the lesson is to reflect on what is studied for the day and how as a team the tutor and student can make it more productive.

I prioritize tutor-student communication as it's the first step towards understanding the wants of the student. I find it important that the student questions me during a lesson/asks doubts as the final goal is to improve the student's core understanding and not just teach him/her a topic.

About Me
I am a University of Melbourne masters student interested in training students for secondary Mathematics. I am currently pursuing my post-graduate degree in mechanical engineering and shall finish my degree by 2020. Having taught students from grades 3-12, I have experience in teaching various subjects including General, Method, and Specialist Mathematics for a substantial duration of time. Studying coursework that rigorously tests my knowledge of physics and higher maths helps me provide an exceptional understanding of the subjects to my students.

The satisfaction of passing on knowledge and bringing out the interest in my students is what I enjoy the most in tutoring. It is quite satisfying to see students who were under-confident in the sciences and mathematics ace it once they start developing interest in it and work hard to reach their potential. I believe my passion to bring out that potential, makes me an eligible candidate for this position.

Having scored exceptional grades in my higher secondary I have gained a firm grasp on my basics. Time management is quite vital as a master’s student and I am habitual to working as per a defined timetable to optimize my efforts in anything I do. This applies to my teaching as well. I also believe in making students feel comfortable while learning and my teaching methods are more interactive to enable them to learn in a friendlier environment. For example, after a few classes, I would ensure that there are mock tests and doubt solving sessions so that students who are not confident in asking doubts in classes can attend them and improve.
Education
I'm a master's in mechanical engineering student specializing in biomechanics at Melbourne University, with an undergrad degree in the same. I finished high school in 2012 with an ATAR of 90 and my bachelor's in 2016 with a CGPA of 8.8.
Experience / Qualifications
I've taught students from year 5-12, in subjects including English, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry for the last 2 years.

I specialize in VCE Maths and Chemistry but have worked with a range of students, including special needs.

I am a highly driven individual with strong mathematics skills and my teaching methods include mentoring students to understand "how" to study and not just "what" to study.
