Considering the fact that many pupils and grownups don't have much time to practise, my piano lessons are split in learning new information and also practising together.

About Me

I have been teaching for a long time now. I have students that are focused on performing and others that are more focused on just learning and being able to read notes and play for fun. If you tell me in the beginning what your goals are , i make a short and long plan for the future lessons :)

Education

I have finished the middle and high school studies in Prishtina/Kosovo. Afterwards i came to Belgium to continue my bachelor and master studies for performing piano at the Conservatory of Gent. I also just graduated from the pedagogical master in performing arts in Gent. Now i am fully focused on teaching and every now and then giving performances of my own :)

First we start with the music theory, melody and chords. These are the essential building blocks for making music.

Following this approach, you will finally understand the music that you are playing, and you will be able to apply the techniques to hundreds of other songs.

CVT METHOD?

Singing is not that difficult and everybody can learn to sing. CVT divideds the singing techniques into four main subjects. By combining elements of these four subjects, you can produce precisely the sounds you want. You will also be able to pinpoint your specific problems and mistakes, and you can focus on which techniques you wish to work on.

The four main subjects are:

The three overall principles – to ensure healthy sound production
The four vocal modes – to choose the ‘gear’ you want to sing in.
Sound colours – to make the sound lighter or darker.
Effects – to achieve specific sound effects.

Hello, my name is Silvia!
I am an Italian student of Violin, currently attending the Postgraduate Musical Performance Practice at KASK & Conservatorium in Gent.
I already have experience in teaching music and violin to children, teenagers and young adults. In those occasions, I discovered how much transmitting my love for music to other people - children, teenagers, adults, any age! - is one of my highest goals within my musical career.
I am aware that each student deserves a personal teaching approach, shaped on his/her own nature and attitude.
I will help students strengthen and consolidate their technical skills on the instrument, but we will also have a lot of fun in playing music!

My education:
- Postgraduate Musical Performance Practice course, at KASK & Conservatorium, HoGent. Ongoing (2022-2023).
- Master Degree of Music in Performing Arts - Violin, issued by KASK & Conservatorium, HoGent. 2020-2022.
- Diploma in Violin (10-year course, old academic system) at the Conservatory of Music “G.P. da Palestrina” in Cagliari, Italy. 2009-2020.

Clarinet lessons at all levels: from absolute beginners to advanced players.
For me as a teacher it is very important to start from the wishes, needs and competences of the student himself.
You can follow lessons via webcam, or at your home near the Ghent - Kortrijk region.
If you don't have an instrument available, you can rent one from me. This offer is limited, so please inquire if you're interested.

Today - after completing an extensive selection procedure - Laurens is professionally active as a clarinetist with the Royal Marine Band, one of the prestigious orchestras of the Belgian army.

In addition to his education at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, Laurens has had the opportunity to learn several times in a number of masterclasses by, among others, Arno Piters (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Davide Lattuada (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Bart de Karter (New Amsterdam Clarinet Quartet), Pascal Moragues (Orchester de Paris), Ricardo Mataredonna (The La Monnaie Theatre), David Van Maele (Royal Music Chapel of the Guides), Bart Watté (Royal Music Chapel of the Guides) etc.

Both as a freelancer and an active member, Laurens has played in various orchestras, such as the Royal Band of the Belgian Air Force, Frascati Symphonic, the Euregio Youth Orchestra, the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra, La Chapelle Sauvage, Flanders Young Symphony Orchestra, the Ghent University Symphony Orchestra, the Ghent University Harmony Orchestra...

Since 2021, Laurens has been a member of the Meraki Wind Quintet, with which he has already successfully participated in a number of competitions, including the IMC International Music Competition 2023 (1er Prix à l'unanimité), the Euterpe Music Awards 2022 (gold prize), the Classic Pure Vienna International Music Competition 2022 (special mention), and the Fanny Mendelssohn International Online Competition 2022/23 (second prize).

In addition, Laurens is also active as a conductor, both in a symphonic and harmonic orchestra. He takes conducting lessons with Kristiina Posska (chief conductor of Flanders Symphony Orchestra), Bart Picqueur (composer and conductor) and Dimitri Bracke (conductor) and is active as a permanent conductor with the Fantasietjes in the Muziekvereniging Bellegem and freelance with various other associations.

At the age of 16 I was accepted in the Exceptional Young Talent program at the Vienna Konservatorium Budapest, after studying for 4 years and finishing the program, I moved to Belgium and I obtained my Bachelor at Royal Conservatory of Ghent and I’m pursuing my career here ever since, I have won International Piano Competitions, I have played solo concerts in Paris, Poland, Budapest, Vienna, Mallorca.
I teach with different methods depending the person’s age, and personality.

Customized lessons:
Teaching beginning children, beginning adults, or experienced students are completely different experiences that require completely different methods.

A constant focus in all cases is to ensure that students learn notation and music reading, which gives them some independence.

As a first step, I create a plan together with the student, depending on his or her personal goals, and supplement this with musical pieces that I think will complement the learning path.

I am available for online classes from August and at home from September 15, but I will not close schedules until the beginning of October.

When you are writing music, it is very important that you show your music to people. Someone with experience in composition, even better. It is sometimes difficult to take that step to show your pieces that you have worked hard on. But this is a very important step, it makes you more confident in your own piece. From then on, people can receive feedback and evolve further. In my lessons, I work mainly on structure and learning to compose. If necessary, I will also work on details, but first the idea and the form have to be right. Composing is an evolution and I myself am getting better every year.

To compose better, thorough music theory is also important. Just as you can express yourself better with more vocabulary, you can write better music and translate your idea into notes better with more music knowledge. The importance of this is often underestimated. For me, music theory (all the basic knowledge but especially harmony and counterpoint) go hand in hand.

I'm an electric guitarist for 17 years. I've been teaching guitar for 7 years and performin live for 10 years. Currently, I'm a masters student at KASK & Conservatorium.

Depending on your preferences in terms of genre and goals on the instrument (just keeping it as a hobby or getting professional at it), your curriculum will be shaped. Also it will be conducted while studying your favorite songs. One of my main goals is for you to be able to accompany your favorite pieces and understand the ideas behind those pieces better.

Lessons can be conducted both in English and Turkish.

The sooner you start the lessons, sooner you come closer to be a better guitar player!
