Piano lessons for beginners and intermediate players

Welcome to the music class! Here, we are gonna discover the wonders of learning an instrument. From reading note letters, implementing a proper form to sight reading a piece, we are gonna learn in our own pace. If you're just learning music now and it feels like there's a lot to understand, don't worry we're gonna start from the basics. I will help you understand music and its elements. With your dedication and my guidance, I'm positive that we will get a good result!

From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.

Hey! My name is Richard and I give private lessons to all levels. For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that! Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. The lessons would take place at my home in Mol or via webcam. If necessary, we can always agree on something else. After dedicating 14 years to mastering the guitar, I've developed a comprehensive understanding of guitar playing, encompassing both foundational techniques and advanced music theory. In these lessons, I'll be sharing the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over this extensive period of learning. I will be covering a broad range of guitar techniques, including fingerpicking, strumming techniques, major and minor chords, power chords, barre chords, riffs, scales, finger warm-ups, practising any song of your choice, string bending, pull-offs, hammer-ons, harmonics, strumming patterns, and slides. All are provided with diagrams etc. For music theory, I will begin by covering the fundamentals, including notes, strings, and the musical 12-note chromatic scale alphabet on the guitar. As students progress, we will delve into more advanced topics such as tones, semitones, chord progressions, circle of fifths, scale formulas and chord terminology. Additionally, we will explore concepts like consonance and dissonance and pitch practice to develop relative pitch. (You have to be born with perfect pitch but you can learn relative pitch with practise!) Then advancing to jazz theory, we'll explore; jazz scale formulas, jazz chord progressions, swing techniques, major and minor 7th chords, major and minor 9th chords, dominant, augmented, half-diminished, diminished, sus2 and sus4 chords. And then jazz scales and the art of re-harmonising a song (changing the chords to jazz chords). All music theory will be intertwined with guitar practice as both can't be done without the other! One observation I've made while learning guitar through lessons is that information is often doled out incrementally, making it feel like a breadcrumb trail. Guitar knowledge and skills seem to be closely guarded and usually gatekept unless actively sought out. I strongly believe that the extensive knowledge I've acquired over 14 years of playing should be fruitfully shared in a more comprehensive and accessible manner, of course while being tailored to the pace of the students. In essence, I'm convinced that the depth of my understanding I've gained could be effectively conveyed and learnt within a two-year timeframe without including the time it takes to master the skill with practice, of course, I'd like to make it easier for people to learn the guitar and the theory behind it. I have also graduated with a distinction for my Music Performance and Production UAL Level 3 Course and a distinction in Fashion Communication which included my music playing at Central Saint Martins. I also have experience teaching guitar in London and Bristol before. The lessons will be taught in English so practising your English with me is also a plus, a foundational knowledge of English is required to take the lessons.

Hello, I have been offering music theory lessons for 4 years now, since obtaining my end-of-study diploma at the Conservatory of Music and Dance in Voiron. My approach is to assess the level of each student first, in order to design a progression plan adapted to their needs. I am flexible in my teaching method and always attentive to each student. Music Harmony is the last discipline that every professional musician has to know to be ready to learn further music disciplines such as Music Composition, Instrumentation, Arrangement e.t.c. How to harmonise your song, correct using of chords, what are chords and how to use them e.t.c. This knowledge is the base of the base to start to move on in your music journey. Modulation, cadenzes, chords, progression and other principles will be learned through this course.

In my teaching I emphasize the importance of founding a correct and accurate playing technique early on. This allows the students to enjoy an effective and high quality learning process as well as avoiding physical pains and injuries from playing. Furthermore, I encourage all my students to get in contact and work with different types of classical repertoire and other musical genres in their instrumental studies.
