I specialise in tutoring French to teenagers (middle or high school/ secondary school) and students (at university). My goal is to keep students challenged and motivated with a "can do" mentality. Often students loose their enthusiasm for a language because of multiple factors and I’m here to gradually help them get their motivation/enthusiasm/confidence back. ☺️

The tutoring is adapted to the student’s learning rhythm but also the school’s or university’s curriculum/schedule. In other words, the lessons are structured around the knowledge the student already has whilst helping him/her to progress in school or university and build his/her confidence.

A variety of topics can be covered while following a logical progression in learning the language. I also help with homework, etc...

About Me

I have a truly multicultural and multilingual background, having a French mother and a Dutch father, and having been educated at French schools while growing up in the US, in The Netherlands, in Spain and in the UK. I have a genuine passion for France and all things French. I am trilingual (French, Dutch and English) and I speak Spanish.

CurrentIy I am working as a Lecturer French at the University of Leiden and teach young students between the age of 19 to 24.

I tutor teenagers one-to-one (middle/high school) and help them with French: grammar, spelling, speaking, reading and listening comprehension,etc….

I also give private lessons to students (at university) one-to-one for all the levels : beginner, intermediate and advanced and focus on listening, reading, speaking and writing skills.

I am Laura , a Spanish woman living in The Hague. I have been teaching and helping high school students with their homework and study methods since 2014 as a private tutor. I have experience as a language teacher in different schools in Madrid (extracurricular activities) for children between 3 and 10 years old. I am a native Russian speaker and can teach Russian to English speakers. I can help you to practice grammar, speaking, pronunciation, listening, writing skills. Also can help with learning Russian from the scratch, starting with the alphabet.

During my lessons, I primarily teach my students not to be afraid to speak Russian. Before classes, I plan topics on which we can talk to expand our vocabulary, and be able to maintain a conversation on a variety of topics.

Also, classes are held in a communication format, so that students learn to understand Russian speech, to be able to ask the questions, reflect on the topic, etc.

Depending on the needs of the student, we study the fundamental grammar rules, which are most important for grammatical speech. To consolidate the material, we do various exercises and tests. Usually, these are texts with gaps that need to be filled. We also do oral exercises so that students can apply grammar rules not only in written assignments but also get used to applying them directly in their speech (which is sometimes a problem because we used to forget some rules in our spoken language).

Since Russian phonetics is quite complicated, I also select various exercises for diction, adapting them for each student (which is always a lot of fun).

I offer online or face-to-face English lessons to non-native speakers. I work with the student to identify learning objectives and any areas of weakness and tailor the lesson accordingly. Areas covered during the lesson include, speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar accent reduction.
I currently live in Den Haag, The Netherlands. In addition to private coaching, I also work for an online ESL company delivering English lessons to children across a range of age groups.
