Piano Lessons - All Levels - Classical, Pop, Improvisation and Composition

Start the new course learning to play piano!

I am a professional classical pianist, accompanist, creator, and composer with a Bachelor's Degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and a Master's Degree from the Royal Conservatorium in the Hague. For 7 years now, I have been teaching students of all levels between 5 and 60 years old.

Lessons are based on your level, interests, and goals. Together we can find out if you are keener on classical repertoire, or if you want to play your favorite pop music, some beautiful soundtrack from a movie you like or compose/improvise new pieces. With my experience in teaching diverse genres, I will help you explore the music that you like.

The central pillars I always work with are technique and creativity, which are much more connected than you would expect! While we advance, I also introduce the basics (or more deeply, if you are interested) of music theory to learn to communicate with each other in musical terms (chords, keys, score reading, etc.). And above all, the goal is to enjoy and have fun!

About Me

Teaching is fundamental to my professional career. I have given piano lessons for 5 years and I see it as the means to bring my experience with music directly to students. Therefore, my main goal as a teacher is to make this experience enjoyable, enriching and challenging.

My experience includes teaching mainly adults and children, but I have also taught teenagers. Due to this, I have confidence in my abilities to teach beginners, amateurs, and students who need support for music school. For children, I strongly believe that parents have to be present in the learning process in order to keep track of what is being worked during lessons. This means that I also inform them regularly about their child’s progress. I am patient and understanding and always want fluid communication between students and me.

I take influence from different methods and books for beginners (Bastien, Faber, Agay, Alfred, and Hal Leonard), and a broad source of repertoire for amateurs, from classical to contemporary or pop music. I also compose small pieces that can help the student to work on some technical or musical aspects. When required, I also take time and initiative outside of lessons to provide students with the support they need to achieve their musical goals. For example, I have made brief tutorial videos for students, which have been very helpful for practicing during the week.

Apart from teaching, I have a strong professional career as a performer. My repertoire consists of solo piano and chamber music, and I am also a capable accompanist, singer, and composer. In addition to that, I am currently exploring interdisciplinary performances. Together with my Quinteto del Diablo, an ensemble featuring Argentinian new-tango music and my own compositions, we have been presenting a collaboration with dancer Rosanna Her Steege in a performance called “The Devil on the Dance Floor”.

As I am a flexible musician, I am a flexible teacher, so do not hesitate to contact me for lessons for you or your child/ren.

Joel is friendly and professional. He adapts the lessons to the level of the kid and their music of interest. We would really recommend him!
Very motivated in trying to teach piano lessons for beginners.
My son just had his first piano lesson with Joel and he loved it. When the hour was finished my son felt a bit disappointed as he wanted to continue and said the class had gone by super fast. After Joel left our house my son told me he would really like to continue taking lessons with him as he felt he learned a lot and had a lot of fun. I personally liked Joel’s communication and professionalism when scheduling the class, and the planning of the curriculum going forward. I think my son will learn a lot from his classes with him.
Joel is extremely good with kids and also very accommodating in finding solutions that work for everyone. My 6yo daughter loves having Joel over for her piano lessons and I will recommend him anytime

Norica
Piano lessons & music theory for beginners and intermediates /ABRSM preparations
Hi there! My name is Norica. I am a pianist and a piano teacher from Tokyo. Just quickly to the point: My approach is holistic and systematic. It uses lots of fun exercises and nice educational materials from Japan in addition to the Internationally recognized standard books. (Don't worry, you don't have to understand Japanese!) You learn not only how to play piano but also how music works- music theory. I know what my students are good at and not so good at right off the bat. That's why I can tailor the lesson plans to their goals and needs. Also, if you like to take an ABRSM exam, the syllables will be tailored accordingly. So what will be tested on the day of the exam is integrated into the lessons and my class/lesson offers all-round preparation for the exam. Another important aspect of my lesson is to focus on improving cognitive skills - increasing memory, right-hand-left-hand-coordination, sustained attention, nonverbal communication, and a feeling of independence and freedom. I do so with unique materials from Japan and fun training. Currently students from 5 to 72 years old are taking my lessons. As an educator, I am committed to the process of learning while making lessons enjoyable and constructive. Please drop me a line if you're interested. If you have any questions about the lesson, feel free to ask. I will be happy to answer all your questions! Thank you

Piano Lessons with two Grand Pianos. Preparations for ABRSM and Competition.
There are two grand pianos at the location in Den Haag. There will be enough distance between the student and the teacher. For children, it is important to develop basic musical skills through Singing, Rythmique, and Ear training besides piano playing. I use one technical exercise book, the main textbook, and a theory book. Through these 3 books, students learn different aspects of music and they naturally get ready for exams and grades. After acquiring basic skills, students study Harmony and Chord exercises too. These are useful for playing pops and jazz, and they obtain a deeper understanding of classical pieces too. Private Piano lesson, from age 4 and above. Children can start the lesson after being able to read the numbers from 1 to 5 and the alphabet from A to G. Advanced students who want to prepare for competitions, auditions, ABRSM, GCSE, IB exams, or the entrance exam of the conservatory. The concert is held annually together with students of flute, violin, and composition teachers. For the ages 1-7 years, I have group Rhythmique lessons.

Carlo

You are in the right place then!!! Hi! My name is Carlo. I am an Italian classical and jazz saxophonist and composer. I am also a qualified music teacher for Italian middle school, with a solid preparation in the psycho-pedagogical field. As a teacher, I believe that any student has different ways to learn and approach music. Therefore, I will create for you a personalized but also funny and engaging learning path that would fit perfectly with your inclinations and musical tastes! My method consist in alternating the study of the instruments with some music theory. In this way, you will comprehend what you are playing, using the so-called method "learning by doing", for a gradual and steady learning. My approach includes also the use of little percussions, body movements and singing, in accord with the tradition of Orff, Kodaly and Dalcroze methods. I will also start teaching you from any songs you already know - it will surprise you seeing how many things you already know about music! You will see how funny is it to learn music in this way! For any level and any age! WHAT YOU WILL LEARN - How to play the saxophone, with focus on posture, embouchure, air steam, sound, technique, top tones etc; - Or how to compose, from songwriting to orchestra's writing, including counterpoint, orchestration and analysis; - How to improvise, without becoming a "music stand addict"; - Music theory lessons step by step with the instrument development; - Playing with others: you will play with your teacher (me!) in a saxophones duet or in a piano and saxophone duet. If you have a fellow musician, bring it for a group lesson! I will make some music arrangements to play all together. WHAT YOU WILL GET - If you don't have a saxophone (yet); a saxophone for the first lesson with possibility of rent; - Digital didactic material; - Professional and serious teacher; - Possibility of group lesson; - Friendly environment; - A cup of tea to better start the lesson :) For any other informations, video, recording etc visit: www.carlorossimusic.com

Hi! My name is Eduardo, a professional musician and long-time music teacher. I am offering physical and online lessons in Music Theory, Improvisation and Instrument. #Harmony #Composition #Solfège #Saxophone #Clarinet #Piano Lessons are addressed to every student profile, regardless of age, level of expectations (no matter if it is seen as a hobby or rather if the individual is getting prepared for official Conservatory auditions, etc.). We will play and/or focus on what the student is willing to deepen into (whatever music style they are interested in, more theoretical aspects or rather practical ones), trying to get the maximum profit of the employed time, and prioritising the actual learning of the person as the main factor for their motivation. I obtained my Jazz Music Master's program at the Prince Claus Conservatoire of Groningen in June 2022. Previously, in 2018, I graduated from my music Bachelor's at the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona (Spain).

Piano lessons for children, adults, beginner and intermediate
Music lessons in a variety of genres, tailor-made for whatever the student (child or adult) requires. I can teach in a strict "classical" style or any song that the student might want to learn (as a composer I am quite savvy in arranging existing songs in any style and for any level). Input (daily practice) is required from the student for productive lessons and, if necessary, homework is given every week. I have experience with individual or group lessons.

André
Piano Lessons - from children to adults, any level. Classical music, pop/rock, etc.
Hello! I am a classical pianist with a Master's degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag. I have taught Piano (and also Music Education) since 2016, to both children and adults. Teaching allows me to bring my passion and enthusiasm for music to the students, and I also find it incredibly rewarding to guide and follow their musical and technical development! I am easily adaptable to the student's musical tastes and expectations/goals in music learning, and I am also very mindful of how I communicate, according to the students' ages and personalities. I can teach classical music, pop, rock, or any other style. My approach consists of giving you the necessary theoretical knowledge for what you wish to play; involving you actively in the choice of the pieces/songs you will play; setting up a long-term plan for your repertoire, so that your development is made step by step in a challenging - but achievable - way (and this way, you will feel more motivated!); giving you enjoyable and creative practicing strategies; creating rich imagery revolving around the piece - by making up a story, relating the music to emotions, etc.; and also positive feedback! Thus, my lessons will allow you to: - Learn how to read scores. -Develop your musical understanding (from notes, rhythm, and harmony, to musical taste, and emotional comprehension of the music, or dive into aesthetic principles concerning the period and style of the piece,...). -Improve, step by step, until you are able to play that piece/song that you love. -Prepare yourself for exams. -Etc. The best thing is that it's possible for you to learn all this and have fun at the same time! Any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Enjoy the music! Bassoon, Basic Piano lessons and Music Theory.
Highly dedicated and passionate teacher. Age does not matter when it comes to learning, just enjoying it. Lessons for beginners to more advanced students. Always trying to keep a creative environment where the students can express themselves in all aspects. I believe that it is necessary to be constant. The ideal would be one hour or hour and a half a week, but that depends on the student availability. I would provide a personal adaptation. I like playing games, singing and coming up to most creative solutions for learning fast inside of a save space for questions and imagination of the student. It is very important to motivate the students regarding to their music tastes. I consider myself an involved and motivated musician. I am constantly trying to learn new styles and enjoy so much doing it. At the moment I am studying my second bachelor degree in music, specifically in Early Music. I am very flexible with schedules for lessons so coming to a common point should not be very difficult.

Make your own Synthesizer or Effect using Max for Live - Lessons in English or French
Max for Live is a tool bundled with Ableton Live that lets you program your own instruments and effects without writing a single line of code. With this course you will get a better understanding of the components of a synthesizer, learn the fundamentals of some of the most known and recognizable effects and learn some basic notions of programming. Max uses a visual approach to programming, meaning you do not have to right codes to make your own plugins, instead you connect blocks that each have a specific function into an interconnected network that make a functioning instrument or effect. By learning how to make your own plugin you will also gain a better understanding of how digital audio works, making you more aware of what your are doing in Ableton and more efficient.

Inspiring Music Lessons: Ableton Live / Composition / Production / Guitar
Making your own music is a very personal practice that demands attention and care. It is comforting to learn the craft and to know what to focus on now and what to deal later in the process. This way you can let your creativity lead the way and take care of the technical details after on. With this course, you'll learn the KNOW-HOW of making your own music from start to finish. We will go through; inspiration, composing, arranging, production, mixing, mastering, and release. You will understand the conceptual frame and the technical craft behind them. In no time you will start applying them to your own workflow as well, no matter what genre you are interested in, electronic, pop, jazz, indie, experimental, classical, and so on. I try to make sure all my students leave the class with a new idea, a fascination, or a new question in their minds about whatever they want to do but most importantly with a smile. The music gathers people, and so is making it. That's why the lessons can flow into a conversation, a joke, a listening discussion, and a feedback session in which we become not only a teacher and a student but hopefully also friends. Subjects we can focus on: Music Theory, Composing, Arranging, Ableton Live, Sibelius, Notation, Electronic Music, Synthesizers, Guitar(acoustic/electric), Piano, Mixing & Mastering

Harp lessons in The Hague for beginners, intermediate and advanced students of all ages!
I have been teaching both the pedal and lever harp for the past 5 years to students ranging from 7 years old to 50! I am very passionate about teaching and hope to inspire my students to love music just as much as I do! I take a patient approach to each student and after a short period of time I am always happy to see great progress in my students playing. Several of my students have won international competitions in 'The Feis Ceoil' in Dublin and have also gone onto study music in university. A lot of my students also learn to play the harp as a beautiful hobby!

Shintaro
Classical Piano Lesson by experienced pianist (piano/fortepiano)
First of all, you shouldn’t choose an amateur teacher for the reason of a cheap price. I struggled to play the piano at a young age because I had a bad amateur piano teacher before I found a better teacher who had certain experiences and knowledge as a concert pianist. After years of trying to remove serious bad behaviors and techniques in the piano, I became very conscious of using my body proper way while practicing. Since then I have had no injury and everything stays very natural in my body. It took more than 10 years to get this method in my body. Now I’m ready to share it but also I need a certain concentration from students in my lesson. Young students who need to prepare for competitions, auditions, and exams are appreciated with great passion. Also, serious amateurs and beginners are very welcome. Biography Shintaro is considered a unique pianist as performing modern and historical pianos parallel. He spent his childhood and student years in Japan. He already received first prizes at several known national piano competitions in Japan while he was studying at Kyoto City University of Arts. In the year of his master's graduation, he gave a solo recital in Kyoto, and his recital was considered as one of the best performances of over 200 concerts in the year by the AOYMA Music Foundation. He earned The AOYAMA Music Awards in 2010 and graduated master of piano performance in KCUA with summa cum laude. He continued his career as a soloist with several professional orchestras in Japan. Some of those concerts were broadcast on TV and radio. Shintaro continued studying the piano at Lucerne Conservatory with Konstantin Lifschitz supported by Hella Siegrist Fonds and AOYMA Music Foundation. He performed the Left-hand concerto by Ravel with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and James Gaffigan in KKL Lucerne Concert Hall in 2014. "A brilliant pianist with solid technique and sensitivities" - Luzerner Zeitung 2014 “Elegantly and with creative power, Shintaro presented Mozart's Piano Concerto in E-flat Major KV 449, the layers of sound always audible, the dynamics balanced. It was surprising that the jury awarded him second prize. “ - Freiburger Nachrichten 2015 At the same time, his interests carried forward him to play chamber music, Lied duo, and historical practices on historical fortepianos. He received the first prize at the Orpheus-Swiss Chamber Music Competition participated by master students of all Swiss conservatories in 2014, and the second prize at The Rotary International in Lugano. Shintaro moved to the Netherlands in 2015, and he completed his master of fortepiano (historical pianos) at The Hague Royal Conservatory. He has worked as an accompanist and ensemble pianist for the Rotterdam Philharmonic orchestra, Opera2day, Residentie Orkest in Den Haag, Noord Nederlands Orkest. He also performed Brahms's “Deutsch Requiem” with Shuann Chai on historical piano and Luthers Bach Choir on the tour in 2020, "Mad King" by Maxwell Davies in New European Ensemble on the tour in 2021, a chamber music concert with François Fernandez and Yun Kyung Kim at the Beethoven Festival in 2022. Shintaro is a member of the New European Ensemble for the new opera “Don Quichot” by Vanni Moretto (composer) and Stefano Pintor (Librettist) collaborated with Opera2day and La Fonte Musica in the tour 2023.
