I am Mike, a professional pianist specialized in classical music. I obtained a master's degree in classical piano and a master's degree in chamber music from LUCA school of arts in Leuven. I have been passionately teaching young and old for several years now. In addition, I still invest time in studying new works and techniques. That is why I am still very active in performing as a musician. I am convinced that this increases the quality of teaching.

My vision as a teacher is that everyone is different and everyone deserves their own personal lesson plan. By drawing up an individual lesson plan for each student, I have experienced that the fastest result is achieved. Whether you have a lot of time or a little time, are young or old or just love Bach, Einaudi or Elton John, my goal is to find a suitable plan for you.

About Me

I am Mike, a professionally pianist, specialized in classical music. I have a Masters's degree in classical piano and a master's degree in chamber music. Both of those degrees I have achieved in Luca School of Arts in Leuven. For some years now, I teach kids, young adults, and adults how to play the piano. Besides that I still invest a lot of time in practicing the piano myself. In that way, I can still perform as much as I nowadays do with my chamber music groups.

I have achieved my Master degrees in classical piano playing and chamber music in Luca School of Arts in Leuven. There I have had my piano lessons from Joop Celis and later on also from Paul Hermsen.

Master Ed gives tailor-made individual music lessons in a relaxed atmosphere. This can be done in his workspace in Antwerp or at your home if you live within a radius of 2 km from Antwerp Central Station.

All levels and all ages are welcome, including absolute beginners!

Master Ed is structured, but flexible: he personally guides you in your style (from rock to classical to improvisation) with the approach that suits you best. You don't have to come to class every week, or even on the same day.

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student.

My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

As a pianist and teacher, I have years of teaching experience at private and public schools throughout Croatia.
My main music education and training I got in Zagreb (Croatia) and Vienna (Austria). In 2020 I graduated in the discipline of the piano as 'Master in music' at the ‘Academy of Music’ in Zagreb.

I am familiar with performing the classical repertoire as well as modern 20th and 21st-century music. In 2020 I had been selected as a pianist to represent the composition of Belgian composer Gillis Sacré at a composition competition in Vienna.
In 2016 I took part in a euphony project and performed on a concert tour in Slovenia, Hungary, Austria and Croatia.

Later I further developed myself on numerous piano and chamber music masterclasses with pedagogues Ruben Dalibaltayan, Vera Vaidman, Andrea Padova, Ratko Delorko, Đuro Tikvica among others.

Between 2019 and 2022 I was connected as a professor at the ‘Ivan Matetić Ronjgov’ music school at the department on the island of Rab in Croatia.
