Private Cello Lessons - personalized cello instruction
From 26.8 £ /h
I accept students of all ages and backgrounds, from a beginner level to a collegiate-preparatory level.
I have been developing my teaching method for over ten years. My primary goal is to help my students understand the deep connections in themselves and between others that music can build. With the understanding that musical motivations are highly personalized, I work with each student to precisely define their goals and create a straightforward path towards achievement.
My program is clear and concise, but highly adjusted for each individual. Starting with a strong foundation of technical work including scales, exercises, theoretical and note reading work, I ensure the optimal set up for each student to be able to play with confidence and comfort. I teach a variety of repertoire that is primarily classical, but I often supplement this with pieces from many other genres, which are personalized to excite each student. I encourage all of my students to participate in group-learning environments, and keep them and their parents apprised of camps, competitions, and other performance opportunities available in their area.

About Me
My teaching career began when I started attending Tuacahn High School for the Performing Arts. I performed alongside the Titan Chamber advanced orchestra under the direction of Jason Bonham, the current principal violist for the Las Vegas Philharmonic. With the group, I toured in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, and Seattle, playing alongside world-renowned musicians such as Mykola Suk, Albert Igolnikov, and Sandra Rivers.
While Tuacahn gave me many wonderful opportunities to expand my love and knowledge of music, I also took the initiative to learn from sources outside the program. I regularly performed with, and received education training from the past concertmaster of the Southwest Symphony (who is also my darling mother),Bonnie Romkey. I performed in and adjudicated for the Southern Utah Performing Arts Festival, and was on the board of directors for the Southern Utah String Festival.
After graduating, I decided to pursue a career as a cellist in Seattle, Washington. There, I began my study under Principal Northwest Sinfonietta cellist Mara Finkelstein, and performed in galleries and private venues. I was the lead cello teacher at Kids In Concert, a Suquamish el Sistema program, and worked at the Applebaum Violin Shop, where I restored the cello that I now play on.
In 2018, I auditioned and was accepted to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, where I am now studying with Madame Viviane Spanoghe. I teach and perform in Brussels, as well as worldwide via Skype.
