Hello, my name is Laura. I am a Jazz Singer and Yoga Teacher. I'm offering singing classes for all levels and ages in German, English and French. I studied Jazz Vocals at KUG, Graz and I am currently studying at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels (Master Jazz Composition). In addition to singing lessons and vocal technique, I can assist you to prepare for the entrance examination of a music university. As a certified yoga teacher, I can help you to improve your posture which will benefit your singing and breathing.

During the lessons we will learn some basic concepts of musical theory, we will know different instruments and music genres. Of course we will also sing and play different songs. The goal of this course is to get familiar with music as a way of playing and expressing ideas and emotions, all in a fun and respectful environment.

Areas that will be covered in this course: -Rhythm guitar/comping: Chords, rhythms, styles, groove. -Guitar technique: Scales, arpeggios, chord shapes, picking techniques, other techniques. -Improvisation/creativity: Guitar solo, play over changes of a song, ways and techniques for improvisation. (possibility of digging into composition) -Repertoire Learn tunes from music sheet and by heart. Be able to perform a small repertoire.

Trombone is an interesting instrument in the Brass family. The movement of the slide makes it fun to play with and make music. You can even join jazz bands and some other activities once you get a hold of it! In my trombone class, you can learn to play beginner trombone with some simple songs alongside some music theory. The class opens the door for beginners in music learning. I can also provide beginner piano lessons at the same time!

One of the goals of the course? to pass on my passion and make music. Hi everybody! I am Umberto, Italian professional drummer based in Brussel. I have a Bachelor in Jazz Drums and I have just achieved my Master in Jazz Drums at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. I have 8 years of experience in music teaching, both private and in schools. I would like to teach drums and share with you this musical world. About the lessons, my method really changes according to the needs of the student. It's very important for me to know a student and what he/she wants to achieve in order to create a specific program that suits him/her. All levels are welcome: from the beginner to the more advanced, I am open to give lessons to everyone who wants to explore the drums and the beauty of music. I am ready to work on all aspects of the drums: techniques, rudiments, grooves, fills, timing, musicianship. As a drummer I have a lot of experience in many different music genres, both teaching and playing: from jazz to funk, from rock to pop, and also folk music in case you want to have a more percussive approach. I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard. My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student. Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you. A bit about me: Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. Would you classify improvisation as composition or performance? Well actually it is both! When you improvise you are composing music on the spot, performing what you have made up at the same time as you have composed it. For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease. The key to success is understanding chords. Once you know how chords are formed and know what notes make up a few chords you will be well on your way towards being able to improvise. We will, therefore, start by ensuring a firm knowledge of certain chords. After this we will progress to improvising a simple melody over the top of these chords. The next stage is to start using notes that are not in the chord. The process is then open ended with emphasis on developing the melody. If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session. Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.
