Anna is an active performer and music tutor based in London. Originally trained as a classical clarinettist, she later took up saxophone as she drew closer to jazz and improvised music, then trained in jazz saxophone at the Perugia Conservatory of Music in Italy. Here she also studied the fundamentals of piano accompaniment and took second study classical clarinet. She is now a versatile player involved in a range of projects in the jazz, RnB, hip hop, afrobeat, funk and fusion genres. Anna is available to teach from absolute beginner to pre-university level inclusive, from the age of seven upwards. In your first lesson she will aim to get a good understanding of your level, strengths and areas to improve in, what your learning style is and what your musical interests are. A variety of activities and materials in a range of musical styles will be provided with the space for you to choose which work best for you. She will also discuss with you your goals and your musical experience or current activity, thus being able to cover appropriate elements in lessons and ultimately enabling you to get the most possible out of each lesson and your personal practice time. For classical clarinet and saxophone students (up to Trinity Guildhall grade 8 inclusive), lessons will obviously be more centred towards the execution of written works, covering repertoire from the Baroque period to the works of contemporary composers. Exam repertoire can also be studied optionally, if the student wishes to participate in graded examinations (Trinity Guildhall). Jazz or contemporary saxophone students will focus on developing their ear and internalising chord-scale theory, studying elements of music theory where necessary and exploring improvisation, transcription and their own musical vocabulary. There is also the option of working towards Trinity Guildhall graded examinations. Theory-exclusive lessons are available, covering exam-board courses as well as jazz theory and general areas of interest. All-rounder students are also more than welcome - they will cover a mix of styles and skills according to their taste, though never neglecting technique and fundamentals of the instrument. Beginner and absolute beginners, not to worry! Anna will take you through your first steps on your instrument, getting you playing from day one, always ensuring that good technique is learned early on. Lessons follow your pace so it doesn’t matter how quick of a learner you are or how much time you’re able to put into home practice - once one skill is well-internalised you will be able to move onto the next, securing steady progress whilst putting into practice lessons already learnt.

As well as performing in London I’ve played all around the UK and abroad at festivals such as the New Generations Festival in Florence (playing with American jazz artists such as Dominic Farinacci and Dan Tepfer). I’m also a highly experienced and regard teacher having taught all the way from university level to primary school. My teaching adapts to the pupil after we identify the areas we want to and wish to work on but also aspects of playing i think you need to improve or will be good to work on. I can also provide theory lessons

Born in Setúbal, Portugal, Diogo commenced his musical studies at the age of ten at the CRS ('Conservatório Regional de Setúbal') in Portugal, from which he was awarded Grade 8 in saxophone. He also has a vast field of working in an orchestral setting, since 2010 I have been doing a lot of internships, such as the 3rd Internship of Palmela Wind Band (Palmela/Setúbal/Portugal), in April 2010; the Wind Orchestra Internship of the Metropolitan School (Lisbon/Portugal), in April 2011; the 5th Symphony Orchestra Festival Art & Cult (Figueira da Foz/Portugal), in July 2012; the 2nd Edition LisbonFilmOrchestra (Valada do Ribatejo/Portugal), in March 2013; the Grand Union Orchestra (Oundle/United Kingdom), in August 2014 and the 1st Internship of the "Ensemble" Symphony Orchestra (Fátima / Portugal), in September 2014, among others. In 2014, Diogo was accepted for undergraduate studies at ESART (‘Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas’) in Castelo Branco, Portugal, under the tuition of Carlos Canhoto. For his final recital at ESART, Diogo received an outstanding classification of 18 marks (out of 20). Back in Portugal, Diogo participated in several masterclasses with names such as Claude Delangle, Mario Marzi, Henk Van Twillert, José Massarrão, James Houlik, Artur Mendes, António Felipe Belijar, Alexandre Doisy, Hélder Alves, Albert Julià, Jean-Yves Fourmeau, João Pedro Silva Nicolas Prost, Otis Murphy, Michel Supera, Jerome Laran, Fernando Ramos and Timothy McAllister. In 2018 Diogo was awarded the May Edwards Prize for Music and in 2019 his quartet "Alaw Saxophone Quartet" was awarded with the Woodwind Plus Ensemble Prize from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. In July of 2019, Diogo finished his Master's Degree in Music Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, under the tuition of Gerard McChrystal. During my time at ESART ('Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas') in Portugal, I also had the opportunity to gain teaching experience at a music school in Castelo Branco for two years. I found that this teaching project was very important to me, not only on the instrumental and technical side but also on the personal side. As a music teacher, I have thought about and worked hard to develop methods and approaches for working with my students. My firm belief is that one size does not fit all, and while the goals and results are often clear the way to get there is personal and individual. I tailor my lessons to and with my clients in mind - because I care. This personalised approach is married to good quality instruction, ensuring that the basics are taught correctly and with the student's age, style, goals and capacity being considered. I work hard to provide this. I am also open to feedback, clarification, and change in order to get the balance right and encourage an open discourse with our students and student’s parents about this. Recently in the United Kingdom, I have been developing my teaching work and experience at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff since September 2017, with several students obtaining great results in ABRSM Graded examinations.

Book an online lesson with Tom! - Tom is an award winning Saxophonist who's work has stemmed from recording sax parts for the Lego Marvel Superhero franchise to writing and releasing albums with Edition Records. Other work includes international touring and TV appearances with pop artists such as Tom Fletcher and The Four Tops. Tom has been teaching privately and in schools for the past 4 years. During this time he has also completed the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music teaching qualification. "Tom has been tutoring my daughter Emma (8) on saxophone for about 6 months and the progress Emma has made is unbelievable. Tom is very friendly, plays the saxophone exceptionally and his lessons are always fun. It is hard to find the right tutor, especially when it comes to music, but Tom is amazing at what he does and Emma always looks forward to her saxophone lessons. I would recommend Tom to anyone who wishes to learn to play the saxophone in a fun and engaging way." - Eva "10 out of 10. Tom is simply - Excellent. We were so lucky to find Tom and even luckier that he had the time in his schedule to accommodate our son with a weekly lesson. We believe Tom was instrumental in our son attaining successful music college applications - but even more importantly - his lovely, easy understated, non-intimidating rapport with our son is why we give him a 10 out of 10! He offers efficient structured lessons and is very encouraging. Of course Tom’s music theory and knowledge is exceptional...to have the guidance of a Royal Academy of Music Scholarship recipient has been nothing short of a privilege for son! Our son would like to keep carrying on with Tom until he gets to his next step - in order to keep his playing at the ready." - Janis "My lessons with Tom have been a fantastic propellant for developments in terms of my technical facility, musicianship and developing a unique voice. Having the privilege of guidance from a master musician like Tom has allowed me to develop further and accomplish more than I could've hoped. Tom listens and clearly explains every concept and exercise with clarity, he cares about getting the most out of the lesson time which means you come away with plenty of material to work on. And as an extra bonus it's always a pleasure to hear him play his saxophone." - Marko
Trusted teacher: I have instructed students of different age groups in saxophone performance and music theory (including counterpoint, harmony and composition) up until university level, in Spain and the UK. After graduating from Cambridge with a double starred first, taking into consideration my academic results and teaching experience, I have also been selected for inclusion in the Supervisor Registry to teach counterpoint and harmony papers. My approach to lessons is very flexible, and I always try to adapt to the needs and qualities of each student. I believe that communication is essential, and at the beginning of each lesson I ask my students if they found my recommendations from the previous lesson helpful and how they see their progress. After this spoken introduction, we proceed to work on some warm-up and technical exercises. Then, we play some studies and pieces, or go over some music theory exercises, trying to apply the advice from the previous lesson and make further improvements. Finally, we conclude the lesson with a summary, listing the main key points and suggestions and comparing our experience to the previous lessons, trying to find a clear sense of progression and a coherent line of work towards a certain goal. This teleological mindset occupies a central position in my methodology, and I always encourage my students to look ahead and plan a series of stimulating events or challenges to look foward to, such as a concert, a recital, a presentation or an exam.
