I am a current music student at university. I have an immense love for music history and theory. I am to keep this love going and showing students there's more to music theory than it being the "boring" element!

Music Theory is the foundations for all pieces composed. This class is for anyone who wants to work towards the Music Theory exams, or anybody who simply wants to learn Music Theory!

Remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question and you'll never be ridiculed for not knowing an answer or concept!

I am a bubbly university student who does nothing but music! I

As a teacher, I understand that there are a variety of ways to learn and not everybody learns the same way. With this in mind, I will find new ways to differentiate the classes so that it benefits the learner to its maximum potential.

Although usually considered homework, I understand on top of life and any other tasks it can be difficult to distribute your time. With that being said, I will set tasks but if you feel too overwhelmed do not fret! We can discuss ways to balance time and go through the tasks together.

Josh has been teaching Guitar and Music Theory for 2 years to a range of different ages and abilities. By creating individually tailored lessons for each student, Josh focusses on personal interests and goals in order to keep sessions interesting and fun. However, whilst doing this, focus is maintained on the areas of those interests which will help with kickstarting their progression!

A typical lesson will consist of working on a song, technique, theory , or all of them combined. From this, students will get to keep their worksheets, leaving plenty of resources for individual practise!

Josh has been working as a musician for several years, gigging, teaching, and composing professionally. Alongside this, he graduated from LIPA with a First Class Honours in Music. Josh also possesses music theory knowledge up to ABRSM Grade 5.

As a session musician, Josh covers a large range of genres regularly and can cater to many different interests for his students. However, the genres of Rock, Jazz, Funk, and Soul are his preferred styles.

Music theory is important for any musician to further understand the instrument they are learning. It is best to start with theory as soon as you can in your music journey. In order to progress past Grade 5 you require the music theory examination.
