I am a drummer and jazz composer with over 15 years experience. I am a tutor on the Jazz Course at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
I can teach drums to grade 8 and beyond, as well as improvisation, song writing, harmony and grade 5 theory.
I can assist with GCSE and A - Level music and coach band practice too.

About Me

I love teaching and watching pupils flourish, enjoy their music and develop the skills they care about. I listen to students needs and use my decades of studying and resources to provide experiences and information which help them to understand new concepts.
I am very happy to work with people with ALN or SEND as well, finding ways to connect and develop through music.

Education

I have a BMus in Jazz Performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. I am studying for an MA in Music Therapy at University of South Wales (2022-2025)

I specialize in tutoring the Saxophone and the Flute for school and exams. My main goal with this lessons, as a teacher, is to keep students challenged, but not overwhelmed. I assign homework after every lesson and provide periodic progress reports.

As a recent Masters music graduate, I am looking to provide a fun, exciting and knowledgeable drum lesson. Lessons can focus on practising towards attaining grades, learning cover songs for bands or learning how incorporate drums into yours or other artists songs. My background in the music industry consists of 8 years of drumming professionally (performing at venues such as The tramshed and Princess royal Theatre), creating, promoting and performing my own music, as well as being fortunate enough to work as a studio assistant at Rock-field studios. I am also able to deliver music theory lessons to the level of grace 5.

Nathan offers drum tuition for pupils of all ages. Based in Treharris, with high end teaching facilities. Every pupil has a choice between a 30 minute or 60 minute lesson.

With university composition and harmony and counterpoint teaching experience, and years of professional freelance experience, I aspire to make learners of all ages, experiences and abilities the best musicians they can be. Stemming from exploring what makes music sound the way it does (in any genre), I help learners understand how to make the music they want to, in a progressive developmental and supportive way.

This class offers individual, personalised music theory / music composition (in any genre) training or tutorial support for learners of all ages, abilities and experiences.
