ONE TO ONE You come to my home or we can meet ‘on-line’ as I can offer fully Skyped facilities with webcam visual contact. You will make fast progress, not only because the lessons are intensive and tailored to your needs and as sole student, there is no one to hold you back. You will receive structured homework to increase your progress. This can account for up to 20% of overall learning. I assess and aim to cater for your needs, whether beginner, intermediate or advanced level. GROUP ‘EXAM BUSTING’ SESSIONS Several students learning together is a most effective way of bringing an added dimension to the class. Students in partnership often form a strong bond, motivating each other, and working well together. Six is my suggested maximum as it is vital to keep the tuition as intensive as possible. We practice written, listening and oral exam papers and can also iron out any grammar or vocabulary issues that are relevant to the particular exam at the appropriate level. MY APPROACH TO TUTORING I carefully assess where my students have gaps in their knowledge and then build on closing them through grammar and vocabulary. I therefore give my students the building blocks to create their own sentences in writing and speech. I work with their text books but also provide my own material to make lessons more interesting. I also use interactive material as well as focussing on past papers and oral exams to help gain confidence in the language. I engage well with all my students and make the lessons enjoyable and less like an extension of school. My conversation classes with adults are always fast-paced and fun, and my students very quickly widen their vocabulary and gain confidence in the new language.

I am Canadian, living and teaching from home in West London. I taught voice at the University of Western Ontario and coached at Universities of Toronto, British Columbia and Montreal, and the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), as well as at Tapestry New Opera, Soundstreams Canada and the Canadian Music Centre. Some of my students have gone on to perform at major opera houses, theatre festivals and professional choirs, while some have gained the confidence to sing a solo at their local church or community event. Some have completed their ABRSM or Trinity exams, or auditioned for conservatoire/university, which I help prepare them for. Seeing my students shine (both on stage and off) fills me with humble pride and fulfillment. We will strive to find the authentic version of your voice, which is important in ANY style of music we sing. You want to sound like YOU, right? This is how an audience connects with you, with music, and what you're trying to communicate. It's the secret behind successful singing and I know the way to get you there.

My daughter had a great first lesson with Candice, she was punctual, kind and very polite. My daughter was particularly impressed with how candice took the time to break down some of the methods to level my daughter could understand and follow. She made my daughter feel at ease and is looking forward to future lessons. I already sense my daughters confidence growing. I would definitely recommend candice for tutoring.

Nathaje

I had a great connection with Nathaje which is important, especially since we started during the Pandemic and opted for online training. Nevertheless I felt completely immersed in her lesson and was comfortable throughout our session. She's an excellent teacher with patience and genuine interest in your vocal improvements.

Megan is a great coach. She has been brilliant with my 7yo and his friend who lacked the confidence to get involved with football. They have both really enjoyed her classes and can't wait for the next one!
