ONE TO ONE
You come to my home or we can meet ‘on-line’ as I can offer fully Skyped facilities with webcam visual contact.
You will make fast progress, not only because the lessons are intensive and tailored to your needs and as sole student, there is no one to hold you back.
You will receive structured homework to increase your progress. This can account for up to 20% of overall learning.
I assess and aim to cater for your needs, whether beginner, intermediate or advanced level.

GROUP ‘EXAM BUSTING’ SESSIONS
Several students learning together is a most effective way of bringing an added dimension to the class. Students in partnership often form a strong bond, motivating each other, and working well together.
Six is my suggested maximum as it is vital to keep the tuition as intensive as possible.
We practice written, listening and oral exam papers and can also iron out any grammar or vocabulary issues that are relevant to the particular exam at the appropriate level.

About Me

Encouraging and fun teacher with aim to inspire confidence

I am Helen, born in the UK and am an experienced, qualified language teacher based in London SW20. Typically my students are based in Wimbledon, Putney, Raynes Park, Kingston, New Malden - generally South West London and Surrey.

I studied French & German at University and then lived and worked in the French Alsace. I have also studied Italian.

Since returning to the UK, I have worked in the commercial domain where the use of my languages has always been required. I started tutoring 8 years ago and now it is my focus.

I teach students of all ages and also work with the business sector.

I have a valid CRB disclosure.

I specialise in tutoring Spanish and French to students of all levels, particularly teenagers preparing for their GCSE or A-Level examinations. I have just graduated with a first-class degree in Modern Languages from the University of Cambridge. I am familiar with various exam boards and would tailor the classes to specific individual needs (reading, writing, speaking), and will focus on confidence, grammatical accuracy and vocabulary range. I will provide periodic progress reports as well as lists of common errors and how to impress the examiners! I would preferably teach via Skype, as this flexibility is convenient for both myself and my students, but I am based in London so would be able to meet in person there. Summer courses for English as a Foreign Language focusing on grammar and speaking. Preparation for Life in the UK test - cultural and historical facts which will help you with the pub quiz besides worthier pursuits. For English I expect students to be literate and to be over 11 (age of secondary school admission in England). I don't tutor "groups". One-to-one is the mode of work, occasionally two in a class. You will be encouraged to develop your own academic or cultural interests (based on European culture) and do a presentation per class unless a test has priority. You will be writing a whole paper (IELTS) for each module as homework, paying particular attention to the written paper for graphs and charts and essay construction. Each lesson will involve revision of what was covered in the previous lesson. Learning by heart is encouraged!

I'm here to meet your French GCSE needs.
