A previous Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle student, I am bilingual in English and in French and can therefore offer classes in English to all ages, including GCSE students as I did the international Option of the baccalauréat (OIB). Moreover, I can offer classes in French too as I am as fluent in both languages.
Extra information
You can bring any books and activities your teachers have given you so I can see how they like to work.

About Me
Would love to be able to share the gift of being bilingual! And put it to good use. A student at the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle for 15 years, I had my fair share of tutors and have picked up on the methods that work well. A calm approach to teaching concentrating on speaking in the language as much as possible. I will of course adapt my lessons to whether the student learns better through listening, writing / reading or speaking.

May and June 2026: In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course).

As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). The topics that have arisen from recent discussions with students relate to French Caribbean writing, Italian resistance and reprisals in Rome (Fosse Ardiatine), and Spanish Etica franquista in films (among others).

I have supported dissertation and thesis students from 2005, as well as granting informal help while I was a postgraduate student of Linguistics at UCL (this includes Institute of Education, 2000-2005). In essence, I can offer help because I have gone through this requirement myself (Aix-en-Provence for French BA, Berlin for Linguistics). Former students have requested this support for: Italian, French, Spanish and Linguistics & Phonetics.

Outcomes: BA MFL students have progressed to an MA after their final year of study, or attained Firsts at Cambridge (and proceeded to a career in the City).

As summers are now a challenge, and the dissertations need to be in by September (at least in England) I can help you with both your writing, research and oral exam. The year abroad really comes to an end in August, the worst time to be thinking about writing and research. I cannot change the weather but can make your path to a good degree smoother.

Hi!
I offer private French lessons with a fun and engaging approach, tailored to your interests and learning style. Instead of rigid classroom structures, I focus on “edutainment” – learning while having fun!

Since you already have some basics, we can explore various immersive methods:
• Cooking a classic French dish while learning vocabulary
• Discussing topics that interest you
• Analyzing French songs, movies, or books (I often recommend Le Petit Prince – simple yet meaningful)
• Practicing real-life conversations, including romantic phrases or modern slang (“largo”)
• Learning typical French expressions and their English equivalents
• Using creative tools like post-it notes, interactive exercises, and everyday scenarios

Each lesson is designed to help you absorb grammar and conjugation naturally, making learning intuitive and enjoyable. My goal is to ensure you gain confidence in speaking and understanding French through practical, real-world usage. There are so many ways to learn—if you have specific preferences, we can explore them too!

🧒 I also offer French classes for children and toddlers, using playful and hands-on methods inspired by the Montessori approach. Through games, songs, sensory activities, and storytelling, little ones can discover the French language in a warm, nurturing environment that respects their rhythm and curiosity.

📍 Recommended frequency: At least 2 hours per week for steady progress – but this is flexible depending on your needs.
📍 Flexible scheduling: Available during the day or in the evening, as I’m a freelance journalist.

I offer individual lessons, but we can also have group lessons.

If you’d like to start, we can arrange a first session to assess your level and set up a learning plan that fits your goals. Let me know what works for you!

Looking forward to helping you on your French journey! ☺️
