French GCSE Learning with a Focus on Grammar and Speaking
From 29.47 £ /h
French GCSE can be challenging for a variety of reasons: tricky vocab, little time spent on irregular verbs at school and extremely particular pronunciation.
I'm here to meet your French GCSE needs. As a private tutor in French and Latin with over 400 hours of experience both in person and online I have raised students' achievements by two grades with practice in pronunciation and meticulous attention to the learning of grammar. As a speaker of four languages I make references between French and other languages to make learning no slog but a memorable hour (or two).

About Me
I am a London-based Oxford graduate looking to help students of all ages with the study of Latin and/or French. Over the past three and a half years I have acquired over 400 hours of tuition experience. This has included tuition for both advanced learners and those struggling, sometimes on account of learning disabilities such as dyslexia and processing disorders.
My working hours are highly flexible and I would be willing to approach the subjects from whichever angle one prefers; whether a student wants to practise his/her spoken French, learn Latin grammar only or simply needs help understanding the syllabus.
All my homework is tailor-made after each lesson for every student. I take into consideration the student's progress, strengths and weaknesses. This is not the "one size fits all" approach too common in school; it determines every student's work on the basis of their experience. I keep tabs on what and how my students study and ensure their pace and progress fits their needs.
In addition to French I also speak fluent Russian, intermediate level Italian and some German. My knowledge of multiple languages allows me to draw parallels between them for my students: something they find both appealing and relatable.
In my tuition I have taught a range of ages studying at Key Stage 3, Common Entrance (13+), GCSE and A Level. What I've doubtlessly enjoyed the most is being able to get students to identify the patterns that unite all languages. I've never had a student - even the most linguaphobic - whom I haven't managed not just to improve but entertain.
The pace of my lessons varies greatly according to students. I am happy to assume a turbo-charged approach if the exams are looming but I've also had experience giving lessons to beginners or more casual learners at a leisurely speed.

Voulez-vous parler français?
Mais... pourquoi pas?!
Bonjour, I'm Sophia - and I'm here to reassure you French is hardly scary!
I am a committed tutor of Latin and French with a wealth of experience that's spanned over three and a half years (more than 400 hours of teaching experience both face-to-face and online).
As a tutor it's my foremost mission to instil in students an unflappable command of grammar, a familiarity with Francophonic idioms and an attachment to both literature and cinema. Learning to pronounce correctly constitutes a greater portion of my lessons than it does in the majority of teachers’.
In addition to these, my knowledge of Latin, Ancient Greek, Italian and some Spanish gives me ample opportunity for the comparison of languages: a facet that my students always find appealing and relatable.
Did you know the word for money in French ("argent") comes from the Latin word for silver, "argentum"? And that this is the reason Argentina is so called?
I provide linguistic trivia and more in classes I can promise you will be engaging and informative and never boring. We can set them at a leisurely or fast or moderate pace.
So, what's to fear? Sign on and commencez enfin à parler français.
