Music trains the brain. Music as a leisure activity has scientifically proven cognitive, emotional, social and neural benefits. Today music is being used in many areas of healthcare. With the training and a year of experience in music therapy, I provide music lessons for children and adults using recent neurological research in the field.

I am an experienced music tutor and value creativity more than anything else. It makes me happy to share my knowledge and skills with others and help them achieve their musical goals. I teach flute and music theory up to advance level and piano up to intermediate level. It's also possible to consider therapeutic lessons for individuals with special needs or dementia.

About Me

I am an authentic, multicultural singer and flutist from Turkey, based in London.
My influences are diverse as well as my background. My mother musical language "Anatolian folk and Ottoman classical music, my academic education "Classical western music" and my favourite genre "Electronic music" are the main three genres that shape my ear and mind. I naturally combine them all as I express my musical persona.

I am an experienced, enthusiastic and patient music tutor who values creativity more than anything else. It makes me happy to share my knowledge and skills with others and help them achieve their musical goals. I teach flute and music theory up to advance level and piano up to intermediate level. It's also possible to consider therapeutic lessons for individuals with special needs or dementia.

My biggest goal is to help children develop joy and excitement for music.
Besides my teaching experience, I have done 900 hours of internship and a course in music therapy. I am also experienced with pupils who have special needs with a proven track record of helping children progress, providing positive learning experiences, creativity skills and building self-confidence.

Imogen
I offer lessons to all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to those more advanced.

Typical lessons last from 30 minutes to an hour.

All of my lessons are tailored to meet the exact needs and preferences of my students, whether that's working towards their next graded exam, playing just for fun, and anything in between.

I hold a first class honours degree in Classical Flute from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where I studied with Ian Clarke and Philippa Davies, and won the Needlemaker's Woodwind Prize. After graduating in 2022, I was invited to become a Guildhall School Junior Fellow, specialising in Flute and Composition.

As a freelance flautist, I have had the privilege of performing at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Concert Hall and the Southbank Centre. My performance experience encompasses a diverse range of settings, from live radio broadcasts to collaborations with dance and art installations, reflecting my versatility as a musician, and openness to help my students pursue their own personal journey, both within music and as an individual in general.

In addition to my passion for the flute, I am also an accomplished composer with a portfolio of commissioned works premiering at renowned venues and exhibitions worldwide. Notable highlights include composing for Wessel Flutes, Berlin Fashion Week, Nxt Museum (Amsterdam), and Adidas Y-3. My work as a composer heavily influences my approach to teaching. Beyond emphasising technical proficiency and a solid grasp of music theory, I am dedicated to nurturing creativity in all of my students.
