Enthusiastic violin teacher for all levels - Graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp

I am a versatile, enthusiastic and dedicated violin teacher, taking on students of all levels and ages from beginner to highly advanced. Being an internationally performing violinist, with a masters degree from both the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, I have a lot of knowledge and experience that I’ve been sharing with students over the past years and that I’d love to share with more!

A big part of my teaching has developed through my own learning journey with the violin. In learning the violin, I value the importance of technique as well as creative, musical development. During a lesson I will therefore touch on technical exercises according to the students needs, improvisation to stimulate creativity and work on musical pieces. We will, during weekly lessons, work towards reaching the student’s goals with high quality results. My approach is tailored to each individual student and above all, encouraging.
I have a wide knowledge of the violin repertoire and am happy to work on a student’s piece of choice as well as suggest suitable works for different levels.
Additionally, I have experience working towards ABRSM grade exams amongst other assessments. I can fluently teach in English, Dutch and French.

About Me

My career as a violinist is versatile as I am passionate about different musical genres and collaborations with different art forms. I am an award-winning chamber musician, obtaining the St James Prize with the Picea Quartet, and baroque violinist, having played side by side the Academy of Ancient Music. My international orchestral experience includes playing at the Barbican, Bozar, De Doelen and the Oriental Arts Centre Shanghai. Currently, I perform with the Theresia Orchestra in Italy and other parts of Europe.
Additionally, I have performed with pop and jazz artists such as Whitney, Ambrose Akinmusire and the Amazing Keystone Bigband, I have collaborated with dance and theatre such as “VENN” by Side Larbi Cherkaoui and created my own show with original film “Melancholia”. Passionate about improvisation, I have played in traditional music bands as well as studied classical and experimental improvisation with David Dolan, Robert Levin and Yves Senden.

Cathy
Flute and Piccolo lessons by Cathy Tsang's Flute Studio
Cathy started her music teaching career in 2015, and has been teaching students from beginner to grade 8, aged from 6 to 35 years old. She always welcomes students who wish to explore more about music, building up playing the flute as their hobby, as well as growing together with them as their role models. She feels very glad and blessed to be the teacher of her students, as well as being their sister, witnessing their growth and becoming a good friend to them. In the lesson, she would always love to play studies, and exercise, as well as play flute pieces and duets together with the students. To broaden their horizons, she would love to share different music recordings, as well as discuss the music together during the lesson. Cathy believes that it is essential for students to step out of the classroom to learn music, rather than just playing the flute. During years of teaching, she has encountered students taking different examination grades. Cathy understands the importance of choosing the pieces for students, she would love to demonstrate pieces and discuss the preferences with the students together. As the mode of having examinations has varied these years, she has already adapted to preparing students for the exams under different situations. Gladly, most of her students could attain merit or even distinction under her tutelage.

I have also attended music theory classes for 6 years because it is very useful to have some knowledge of it when playing any instrument. If you would like, I would be more than happy to share some knowledge of music theory along with the violin lessons. Lessons are private and not in groups.

Maximiliane
Violin lessons online for Beginners/ Advanced / Aspiring violinists
I am currently an intern at the Rheinische Philharmonie State Orchestra. I also perform as a soloist and as a chamber musician. Most recently with the Vratz Symphony Orchestra. I lectured at a music school in Düsseldorf and Velbert and also teach in Essen. I have been awarded first prizes at international competitions several times and regularly perform in classical and jazz/pop formations. Beginners, advanced violinists and aspiring violin students are in good hands with me. All aspects of violin playing such as technique, intonation, register playing, vibrato etc. including compositions from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries are integrated as well as modern styles from the 20th or 21st centuries. Playing the violin should be fun for my students, so in addition to the technique of playing, musical expression is also taught with this versatile instrument. I approach my younger students with creativity and empathy. Ambitious students learn the classical and romantic violin literature required for their studies. If desired, the students can take part in competitions such as “Jugend musiziert”, auditions or Prepared entrance exams at German music universities. I look forward to your inquiry! Lessons are possible in German, English and French.
